Edited by the Three Koreas and the Northern Alliance
A masterpiece of Chinese Song Dynasty historiography.
250 volumes. The author, Xu Mengxin (1126 1207), a native of Qingjiang, Jiangxi, was a 29-year-old Jinshi, who spent most of his life writing at home, and wrote this book in the fifth year of Shaoxi (1194).
The Three Dynasties refer to the three dynasties of Song Huizong, Song Qinzong, and Song Gaozong.
The book gathers a variety of historical materials related to the Song, Jin, and war wars of the three dynasties, and arranges them according to the year, month, and day.
The Song-Jin and Jin Wars were the top priorities in the late Northern Song Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty, and there were no less than hundreds of Song people who recorded books based on their personal experiences or what they heard and saw.
Xu Mengxin collected the records of various families, as well as the edicts, edicts, books, recitals, biographies, deeds, inscriptions, anthologies, and miscellaneous works of this period, and did not examine the similarities and differences and doubts in the accounts.
After the book was completed, the Records Institute took it in as a reference for the compilation of the "Records of Gaozong".
Since then, Xu Mengxin has continued to compile 50 volumes of "Northern Alliance Collection and Supplement", but it has long been lost.
The book cites more than 200 kinds of documentary materials, and the whole original text is cited, which is rare in previous chronicles.
Many of the historical sources cited were later lost, thanks to which the book has been preserved.
It is one of the basic historical books for the study of the history of Liao, Song and Jin.
