Have you ever heard the legend of Nuwa mending the sky?

Legend has it that Pangu opened the world, Nuwa made people out of yellow clay, the sun, moon and stars performed their duties, the people lived and worked in peace and contentment, and the four seas sang and danced. Later, Gonggong fought for the throne with Zhuan, and was unable to reach the mountain without victory, resulting in the collapse of the heavenly pillars, the extinction of the earth, the waste of the four poles, the split of Kyushu, the northwest of the sky, the southeast, the flooding, the spread of fires, and the displacement of people. When Nuwa saw that her people were clamoring for a great calamity, she was very concerned and decided to refine stones to make up for the heavens.

So she traveled all over the world, wading through the mountains, and finally chose Tiantai Mountain, a fairy mountain on the sea beyond the East China Sea. Tiantai Mountain is one of the five immortal mountains in the East China Sea, and the five immortal mountains are hunched on the back of the gods to prevent them from sinking to the bottom of the sea. Why did Nuwa choose Tiantai Mountain, because only Tiantai Mountain produces five-colored soil for stone refining, which is an excellent place for refining Tianshi.

So, Nuwa piled boulders on the top of Tiantai Mountain as a furnace, took the five-colored soil as the material, and borrowed the sun god Huo Xiaoxiao, which lasted nine days and nine nights, and refined 36,501 five-color boulders. Then it lasted nine days and nine nights, and 36,500 pieces of colorful stones were used to make up the sky. The remaining piece is left on the top of Yutani in the middle of Mt. Tendai.

The heavens were repaired, but there was no pillar to support the four poles. If there were no pillars to support it, the sky would fall. In desperation, Nuwa had no choice but to cut off the four feet that carried the god of Tiantai Mountain to support the four poles.

However, if Tiantai Mountain did not have the load of Shenao, it would sink to the bottom of the sea, so Nuwa moved Tiantai Mountain to Langya on the coast of the East China Sea, which is the area of Taoda Town in Rizhao City today. So far, there are still Nuwa mending the rooftop on the Tiantai Mountain, and there are the gods who have been cut off and the remaining colorful stones under the rooftops, which are called the Sun God Stone by later generations. After Nuwa mends the rooftop, the heavens and the earth are positioned, the flood returns, the fire is extinguished, and the four seas are quiet.

People sing and dance on Tiantai Mountain, celebrate the success of mending the sky, and at the same time build a Nuwa Temple at the foot of the mountain, which is worshiped from generation to generation, and there is an endless stream of worshippers and incense.

Nuwa mends the sky is an ancient Chinese myth and legend, the story tells that in the Nuwa era, the water god Gonggong clan and the fire god Zhu Rong clan fought in Buzhou Mountain, as a result, Gonggong clan because of the defeat and angrily hit Buzhou Mountain, causing the sky to collapse, the world fell into a huge disaster, Nuwa could not bear to suffer the disaster, so refining the five-color stone to make up the sky, folding the foot of the god turtle to support the four poles, leveling the flood to kill the beast, through the yin and yang to remove the adverse qi, all souls were able to live in peace.

The legends related to Nuwa's mending the sky are recorded in the ancient books "Huainanzi Lan Yin Xun" and "Liezi Tangwen".

In the early days, Nuwa mended the sky, and there was no intersection with Gonggong touching the mountain, not only did there be no keywords such as Gonggong, Zhurong, and Buzhou Mountain, but there was no explicit record of the reasons for the collapse of the sky and the disaster in the world, and the language was unknown. [4] There is no mention of Nuwa's refining stones to make up for the sky because of Gonggong and Buzhou Mountain, which shows that in the pre-Qin ancient period, "Nuwa refining stones to make up for the sky" and "Gonggong angrily touching Buzhou Mountain" were two completely independent stories, and it was the Eastern Han Dynasty scholar Wang Chong who welded Gonggong touching the mountain and Nuwa mending the sky together.
