Chinese teacher volunteers are required to pay a deposit of 30,000 yuan to Hanban before taking up their posts, and the full amount will be refunded after returning to China on time. Hanban will provide round-trip international travel and a monthly living allowance of US$1,000 for volunteer Chinese language teachers. There are two types of benefits during volunteer service:

The duration of volunteer service is one year, and the service period can be appropriately extended if retained by the U.S. side and agreed by the original unit. During the service period, the applicant teacher's dispatching unit shall retain the domestic public position for him, and the length of service shall be counted consecutively.
