With the sustained and stable development of China's economy and society and the great importance attached to education, the overall financial investment in education has shown a trend of steady growth year by year. Due to the continuous increase in investment in education at all levels in China, the problem of insufficient investment in education has been effectively alleviated. At the same time, the increasing state financial education funds have also put forward higher requirements for the efficiency of the use of education funds, especially the fairness of education financial allocation and resource allocation.
Based on the baseline data of the China Education Tracking Survey conducted by the China Survey and Data Center of Renmin University of Chinese University from 2013 to 2014, we investigate and analyze the impact of compulsory education financial investment on students' academic achievement and educational outcome inequality from the perspective of educational equity, and investigate and analyze the impact of educational financial investment at the junior high school level on students' academic achievement and educational outcome inequality, in order to provide an empirical basis for establishing a fair and scientific education policy system.
The financial situation of education affects the state of educational equity.
The impact of public funds per student on students' standardized test scores showed an inverted "U-shaped" structure, and its positive effect was significant in rural areas. When we analyze the impact of public education investment in urban and rural areas, we find that in rural areas with low economic development, the positive impact of public expenditure per student on students' standardized test scores is greater than that on urban students. This results indicate that in the underdeveloped areas with low economic development, increasing financial investment in education has a more significant positive effect on improving students' academic achievement.
This finding is consistent with the conclusions of international empirical studies. Comparing the differences between urban and rural areas, it can be seen that the per capita public funding for junior high school students in rural schools in China is significantly lower than that of schools in central urban areas, and there are large gaps in school running conditions and education quality between urban and rural areas, between regions and between schools.
