<> "Britain's newest frigate launched.

On December 3, 2022, the UK's first Type 26 City-class frigate, HMS Glasgow, was officially launched.

The frigate was previously loaded onto a barge at BAE Systems' Govan shipyard and moved downstream to a deep water area in the west of Scotland for launching.

It was then towed back to the River Clyde back to the Scottston BAE shipyard in Glasgow for outfitting and the entire launching process took several days to be meticulously launched.

You must know that although this ship is called a frigate, the standard displacement is 6,900 tons, and one is 1.2 billion pounds, about 100 million dollars, which is simply more expensive than the sky!

The Royal Navy's Type 26 City-class frigates will replace the current Type 23 anti-submarine frigates to enhance maritime deterrence capabilities and escort Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers, as well as conduct anti-submarine operations.

The origins of this type of frigate can be traced back to the Future Surface Combat Return to Appearance (FSC) in 1998.

The project was delayed from the very beginning of the project until it was cancelled in 2004.

In the second year, it became a two-type ship with a combination of high and low, and then it became a high, medium and low-grade FSC ship, of which the 6,000-ton "task force type anti-submarine warfare platform" eventually evolved into a Type 26 frigate.

Type 26 frigates are all named after English cities, hence the name city-class frigates.

On July 20, 2017, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the first ship HMS Glasgow. The first three ships to be ordered cost £3.7 billion, which was still the highest in 2017.

The British Type 23 frigate is also known as the "Duke" class frigate because its naming is based on the title of the British duke. It is a large ocean-going multipurpose frigate of the British Royal Navy. Although the Type 23 frigate was positioned as a cheap anti-submarine frigate in the design stage, it was gradually expanded in the design stage, and evolved into a multi-functional ship, in addition to having excellent anti-submarine capabilities, air defense capabilities are also quite excellent, and it has become a multi-functional ship that the British Royal Navy relied on after the "Cold War".

Due to the repeated postponement of the Type 23 frigate's successor, the Type 26 frigate, the Royal Navy had to extend the service life of the Type 23 frigate to 22 years, and began to carry out renovation and improvement projects from 2005.

A total of 16 ships were built in this class, which was later reduced to 13 due to financial pressure. The Mambis Type 23 frigate is currently the only type of frigate in the Royal Navy, and the new Type 26 frigate is estimated to begin gradual service around 2020.
