In terms of the history of the Ming and Qing dynasties, Meng Sen's "Lectures on the History of the Ming Dynasty" and "Lectures on the History of the Qing Dynasty" are worth a look. In terms of pre-Qin history and Qin and Han history, Yang Kuan's History of the Western Zhou Dynasty and the History of the Warring States Period and the Chronicle of the Warring States Period, Han Zhaoqi's Complete Translation of Historical Records and his Historical Records are all authoritative. In addition, the historical works of Zhang Dake, president of the Chinese Historical Records Research Association, can also be seen, and he is also a leader in the industry in this area.
Huang Renyu's "Great History of China" and "The Fifteenth Year of Wanli", Nan Bingwen and Tang Gang's "History of the Ming Dynasty" can be seen, and the history of the Southern Ming Dynasty first recommended Gu Cheng's "History of the Southern Ming Dynasty". In addition, the historiographical works of Chen Yinke, Chen Yuan, Lu Simian, and Qian Mu are also worth reading, and the four of them are second to none among modern historians in terms of their knowledge of historiography, the amount of historical writings, and their historical knowledge.

Ancient texts are far away from our lives, so reading them is inevitably a hindrance. Only by breaking down barriers can reading become fluent and interesting. I advocate that starting with some interesting books is to gradually cultivate a sense of language and enhance the interest in reading ancient texts.
You can read "The New Language of the World", each of which is short and flavorful. For example, if you want to learn "Spring and Autumn" and "Zuo Chuan", you can first look at the "Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty", the text of "The Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty" is closer to the vernacular, and it is easier to understand. Or read Yang Bojun's "Vernacular Left Biography" again, and then read the original "Left Biography".

This is an excellent primary anthology of ancient literature. Most of the selected articles are the works of famous literati in history, and at the same time, they are readable, and all articles that are too difficult will not be accepted. And there are detailed notes and a tasting of the article.
After reading through the ancient texts, you should have a good foundation in ancient literature.
-
When looking at annotated ancient texts, start with the easier ones, start with the ones that are interesting to read, and then work your way up. I don't recommend reading ancient texts without annotations as soon as you come up, because if you don't understand them, you will often fall into a state of ignorance, and in the long run, your enthusiasm for reading will be lost. There are also traditional vertical books, which are even more difficult, and those who are not of ordinary level can gnaw on them.
Preferably, choose the horizontal version of Simplified Chinese with modern annotations. I chose the "Chinese Classics Translation Series" from Chung Hwa Book Company. This set of books explains the ancient text in sections, with annotations for individual words and translations of entire passages into modern Chinese.
As for the font size, it is suitable.

Ancient classics, but it is not advisable to read early texts such as historical records at the beginning. You can start with the Qing Dynasty literature, and the easiest thing to get started with is **. There are already a lot of ** in the Qing Dynasty that are not completely Chinese, and the difficulty of reading half-literate and half-white is relatively low, so you can start here.
Then read the Qing Dynasty Notes**. For example, the classic Chat Zhai Zhiwei. If you can understand it relatively smoothly without using annotations, you can understand the strange things.
You can go directly to the literature of the Tang and Song dynasties. Then there are the documents of the Han and Wei and Jin dynasties. Finally, I will read the pre-Qin literature.

There is a premise to recommend, that is, you have to read this book, and the book you have not read, if you say that it is recommended, it is just a copy and paste of other people's experiences, only by really reading, you can know what you need, what is suitable for yourself. Other people's recommendations can only be recommendations, judging the quality of a book, whether it is suitable for you or not, you have to choose yourself. I have also experienced this stage, always thinking about which good books of Chinese culture are suitable for me to read, but after others gave me a lot of advice, I finally chose my own heart, because first of all, you have to have the desire to read, if you don't have this desire, no matter how much advice others give you, it is useless.
