Tournament History:
The 12th World Men's Basketball Championship was held in Canada from August 4 to August 14, 1994, with a total of 16 teams participating in the tournament. The U.S. team sent the Dream II team, composed of the best players in the American professional basketball team, to participate in the championship and won the championship, and the Chinese men's basketball team achieved the best result in the event, finishing 8th.
The 13th World Men's Basketball Championship was held in Greece in 1998 with a total of 16 teams participating. Due to the strike of American professional basketball players, the United States only sent a team composed of college players to participate in the competition, and the Chinese team missed the competition because it only won the third place in the Asian Men's Basketball Championship, and Yugoslav guard Bodiroga was named the best athlete of this competition.
