This book discusses Sima Qian's experiences and the influence of all of them on his work, and speculates on the sequence of the various works of the Shiji, arguing that Sima Qian's personality and the style of the Shiji are the same thing, that is, the romantic naturalistic spirit. The author also made a detailed analysis of the aesthetic style of the book "Records of the Historians", and spoke highly of Sima Qian's position in the history of Chinese literature. It can be said that the major issues involved in the study of Sima Qian and the "Records of the Historian" are touched upon to varying degrees in this book, and profound insights are put forward that inspire people to think about.
For example, as for Sima Qian's birth year, since Wang Jing'an and Liang Rengongti were born in the fifth year of Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty (145 BC), it is almost a foregone conclusion. However, Mr. Li Changzhi was not constrained by authority and success, and in this book he put forward the theory that Sima Qian's birth year was the sixth year of the founding of the Yuan Dynasty (135 BC). Interestingly, although this idea did not cause repercussions at the time, in 1955 a person named Liu Jiquan plagiarized the full text and published it in his own name in Historical Research.
In the same period, the "Historical Research" also published Mr. Guo Moruo's article "There is a problem with the annual examination of Taishi Gongxing", and also held the statement that Sima Qian's birth year was the sixth year of the founding of the Yuan Dynasty. Since then, this point of view has attracted attention in the academic community and has been hotly discussed. However, it has been 10 years since Mr. Li Changzhi wrote this article.

"Sima Qian's Personality and Style" is a work of Mr. Li Changzhi before liberation, of course, there are some shortcomings. For example, the book overemphasizes art and overemphasizes and exaggerates Sima Qian's romantic naturalism, which reflects the author's influence on the aesthetics of German classical idealism in his early years. Nevertheless, this book is still an important reference work for the current study of Sima Qian and the Records of the Historians.
In the eighth year of the year, Mr. Takeshi Wada, a famous Japanese scholar, translated this book into Japanese and published it by Tokuma Shoten.

Sima Qian's Personality and Style is a work by Mr. Li Changzhi, a famous scholar and literary critic in China, in 1946, and the book was published by Kaiming Bookstore in 1948. Sima Qian was Mr. Li Changzhi's favorite classical writer, and after the liberation, he always wanted to revise it, and in the fifties he had written an outline for revision, but the haste of personnel and the turmoil eventually became a pity.
Mr. Li Changzhi said in the preface: "The title of this book was originally intended to be called "The Lyric Poet Sima Qian and His Tragedy", because the original intention was only in the biography, and the center of the biography was in the Li Ling case. Later, because the article on the succession of historical records was too long, I wanted to change it to "Sima Qian and Historical Records" to show that people and works are equally important.
However, when writing style analysis in the future, it accounted for a larger proportion, so it was finally named "Sima Qian's Personality and Style", and personality and style also have a common center, that is, "romantic naturalism". I would like to add this adjective to the title of the book, but that would be more cumbersome, and a little less subtle than now, though I am not used to, and I will not, want anything subtle. ”
