Buddhist scriptures that have been passed down orally for 500 years will inevitably have distortions and deviations, and more importantly, some believers add their own understandings and teachings in the oral transmission process, resulting in the vast number of Buddhist scriptures today, the content is different, and even contradictory in many places. It can be seen that the Buddhist scriptures today are no longer the teachings of Shakyamuni. ”
Another "creation" of folk Buddhism is the bodhisattva. Shakyamuni did not mention "Bodhisattva", and the statue of Bodhisattva enshrined in the temple is even more contrary to Shakyamuni's teachings. There is an example of a Buddhist enlightened national teacher who has sores on his face (evil deeds committed ten lifetimes ago, retribution in this life):

In the future, Zhixuan lived in Anguo Temple, and his morality was famous. In the twelfth year of Tang Xiantong (871), Yizong came to the Dharma seat, honored him as the national teacher, and gave him the agarwood throne, which was extremely courteous, and Zhixuan also consciously honored. One day, the Wuda National Master suddenly had a facial sores on his knees, and his eyebrows, eyes, mouth, and teeth were complete.
The national teacher was all over the group of doctors, but they couldn't be cured, and when he was helpless, he suddenly remembered what the sick monk said when he was leaving.

The enlightened national master made his intentions clear, and the monk said, "Don't worry, I have a clear spring under the mountain rock here, and I can wash it with this clear spring tomorrow to get rid of your suffering." When the national teacher was about to pick up the stream water to wash the sores, the sores on his face shouted loudly: "Don't wash it!" You are a person from Botong ancient and modern, I don't know if you have ever read the history books of the Western Han Dynasty.

When the Wuda National Master listened, he didn't feel that the sweat was like rain, and he hurriedly washed the water, and suddenly there was a sharp pain in the marrow, and he was suffocated, and when he woke up, the sores on his knees were gone, and he wanted to pay homage to the holy monks.
Disappeared without a trace, and disappeared.
Knowing that he had received the mercy of the Holy One, he had forgiven the grievances of many lives, and vowed to repay the Holy Grace by saying the Dharma to the people. Therefore, he composed three volumes of confessions, recited them in the morning and evening, and refined them all his life. At the end of life, the time is predicted.
Later, this confession was named "Compassion Samadhi Water Confession" because the Venerable One used samadhi water to wash the sores on people's faces and relieve the karma of many generations, and it has been passed down to this day.

Because sentient beings are reincarnated, they are reincarnated. The negative karma of the past will be carried over to this life. To do evil is to cause physical and mental suffering, and to do good is to make physical and mental pleasure.
There is a famous saying in Buddhism: "If you want to know the cause of your past life, the recipient of this life is; If you want to know the consequences of the afterlife, the author of this life is. 】
