Car maintenance is a very important issue. Because it is related to the service life of the vehicle and the personal safety of the driver and passengers, it cannot be underestimated, and the knowledge in this is great. Opening the hood every once in a while to check the height of various liquids is one of the things that should be done to extend the life of the car.
Whether it's lubricating oil or brake fluid or coolant, too much or too little is not a good sign. If you check it clearly, you can remedy it yourself in time, so as not to make a big mistake and affect driving safety.
1. Brake fluid.
The brake fluid of the car is contained in a plastic container above the main cylinder, and it has nothing to do with the condition of the engine when checked, in other words, it can be done or stopped, cold or hot, and it is clear at a glance.
Normal: The height of the brake fluid should be higher than the lowest point, but it does not have to reach the highest point. Normally, the amount of brake fluid varies with the degree of wear of the brake pads.
Too much brake fluid.
Too much brake fluid doesn't get in the way. However, if you have just replaced the brake pads with new ones, you should be careful. Because the new brake pads are thicker, the overfilled brake fluid will overflow. It is important to know that brake fluid dripping onto the body paint or chassis is very corrosive.
It is recommended that a needle or straw be used to suck out more brake fluid.
Too little brake fluid.
If the height of the brake fluid drops below the lowest point, it means that it is time to replace the brake pads. Of course, there is also the possibility of brake fluid leakage. Under normal circumstances, even if the brake fluid is less, it does not affect the effect of the brake, but if the brake fluid is dry, it will cause the brake pedal to drop and the brake to fail.
It is recommended that if the decrease in brake fluid is not caused by brake pad wear but by leakage, the brake fluid must be replenished immediately and repaired by the dealer. Because it is a matter of security, we must not be careless.
The brake fluid should be displayed above the lowest point. If it is close to the lowest point, the brake pads are worn.
2. Steering gear lubricating oil.
The lubricating oil in the steering gear should generally not change much. The slightest leak will be obvious. Many automotive steering gear lubricants have different containers, some transparent and some opaque. A glance at the engine when it's stopped is clear.
Normal: As long as the steering gear fluid is between the highest and lowest points, it doesn't matter. You can also do it yourself and use ATF
Special fluid for the D2 model, but be careful to use the same type of fluid as the lubricant for automatic transmissions, otherwise it will be harmful.
Too much steering oil lubricating.
Don't worry about too much steering oil, it will drain the excess automatically.
