1) Hydrophilic sample: choose a hydrophilic diaphragm, which has an affinity for water and is suitable for filtered water as a matrix solution. Available membranes are: mixed cellulose esters, polyethersulfone (PES) nylon, etc.

2) Strong corrosive organic solvents: Filter membranes made of PTFE, polypropylene (PP) and other materials are generally used.

3) Protein solution: Choose a filter membrane with low protein adsorption, such as PVDF filter membrane.

4) Ion chromatography: It is generally considered that PES filter membrane is more suitable for the filtration of solutions with low inorganic ions.

When choosing a syringe filter, in addition to considering the above factors, the volume of the sample should also be considered, usually when the sample volume is less than 2ml, choose a 4mm diameter micro filter; If the sample volume is between 2-10ml, a 13mm diameter filter should be selected, when the sample volume is greater than 10ml and less than 100ml, a 25mm diameter syringe filter should be selected, and when the sample volume is greater than 100ml or the sample is turbid, a 33mm diameter needle filter or a solvent filter should be used.
