French 19th-century painter Paul Delaroche
Oil painting "The Execution of Lady Jane Grey".
Lady Jane Grey is the "Queen of the 9th" in British history. During the Tudor period, Edward VI, the son of Henry VIII, fell ill and died in July 1553 after a seven-year reign. Originally, after him, the most likely to succeed to the throne was his half-sister Mary, but before Edward VI's death, John Dudley (Duke of NorthUmberland), who was very ambitious at the time, encouraged him to amend his will and give the throne to his maternal niece, John Dudley's daughter-in-law, Lady Jane Grey, whose royal blood came from her maternal grandmother, Mary Tudor, the sister of Henry VIII.
Lady Jane Grey, who was only 17 years old at the time, ascended to the throne but her legitimacy to the throne was challenged by many, and the events that followed were highly dramatic. Tracy Borman's new book, Elizabeth's Women, doesn't give a direct description of Lady Jane Grey, but focuses on two sisters, Mary and Elizabeth, who both have the right to the throne.
When Mary received the news, she knew that it would be bad luck to stay in London, and fled London overnight. After fleeing to Norfolk, northwest of London, she began to gather the soldiers and nobles who supported her and prepared to fight back to London. Tracy Borman commented
Mary's stubbornness won her the victory", and she firmly believed that she was the rightful heir to the throne. Elizabeth, meanwhile, hid in Hatfield, north of London, and watched the situation unfold.

Me and the Village (oil on canvas), Chagall (France).
Chagall came to Paris, France in 1910 to participate in the activities of the Cubists and the Parisian painters, which was a prolific period for his creation, and he used the boiling power of his body to combine the shapes of the modern world with the theories of Fauvism and Cubism.
Created in his second year in Paris, I and the Village is a methodical way of depicting real life in different time and space, using imagination and memories to conceive the image. For him, reality always contains a projection of the past and the future, so the image of the picture is from several aspects. His characters and landscapes are beyond the rigid rules, and every detail retains the truthfulness of life, complete freedom and as beautiful and elegant as possible.
This painting is full of memories of childhood, deep affection for hometown, and love for life. He used a surreal method of expression, with Fauvist and Cubist influences, but mainly his own unique creations.
