The London 2012 (30th Olympic Games) mascot, Wenlock, comes from the village of Schropshire in much Wenlock. There, the Venlock Olympiad was once held, and this ancient event was one of the inspirations for the modern Olympic Games, Jean-Claubertin, the father of the modern Olympic Games
In the 19th century, Coubertin was invited to the Venlock game, and Coubertin was inspired by the Venlock game to create the modern Olympic movement. To this day, the Venlock game is still being held. Therefore, in honor of the Wenlock Olympics, the London Olympics decided to name the mascot "Wenlock".
There is also a yellow light sign on the mascot's head. It is said to be an iconic taxi from London. And Wenlock wears an Olympic friendship bracelet on his hand. Their big eyes actually have a photographic function, with the aim of witnessing every place they have been and who they have met.
Sebastian Coe, president of the London Organising Committee, said the mascots were created for children and that they would connect children and sport and tell stories about the Games that people would be proud of. Venlock will help children grow healthy and strong.
On 4 June 2007, at 11:30 London time, the new emblem was unveiled without any traditional local emblems or colours. The emblem of the London Olympics is a deformation of the four numbers "2012", and different oblique blocks are combined into an irregular shape. Wolff Ollins, the designer, said the logo was designed to appeal to young people and was a departure from the tradition of the Olympic logo that tended to show the face of the city.
The emblem of the London 2012 Olympic Games was controversial as soon as it was announced, and the British public, including the mayor of London, accused the emblem on the Internet of "resembling the scene of a car accident", which is disturbing. Some netizens have spoofed it in various versions. The emblem design is therefore also known as the most controversial Olympic emblem design of all time.
