Sun Kaidi (1898-1986) was a scholar of Dunhuang, an expert in classical literature, an expert in Dunhuang studies, a theorist and professor of Chinese opera. A member of the Democratic League, a native of Wangsi Town, Cangxian County, Hebei Province, graduated from the Department of Chinese Literature of Beijing Normal University in 1928.
From 1929 to 1941, he successively served as an assistant professor at Peking Normal University, the Dictionary Compilation Office of the Chinese University, and the head of the scripture writing group of the National Peking Library. From 1945 to 1952, he was a professor at Peking University and Yenching University. In 1931, he was appointed by the Peking Library to visit Japan and compile the "Bibliography of the First Book Seen in Tokyo, Japan".
After the Japanese army forcibly took over the Beiping Library, he abandoned his home. For decades of research and opera, the collection of rare books and ancient books amounted to more than 10,000 volumes, especially the first opera class, the book "Chinese Popular Bibliography", "Tokyo, Japan" can be called the pioneering work of bibliography, in the early 1930s, committed to the study of Chinese classics and opera, and wrote millions of words of work with lifelong energy. The collection of books was attacked during the "Cultural Revolution" and sold to Chinese bookstores for a pound.
Because of excessive sadness, he went insane. He joined the Chinese Writers Association in 1952. Since 1953, he has been a researcher at the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
He was the first to conduct systematic research on "vulgar speaking" and changing texts, and his works include "Dunhuang Manuscript Zhang Yichao Changing Texts", "Dunhuang Manuscripts Zhang Huaishen Changing Texts" and "Vulgar Speaking, Speaking and Vernacular**", which were later included in "Cangzhou Collection" and "Cangzhou Later Collection". His main works include: "Han Feizi Correction" (with Zhuangzi's evidence of Nanzi's correction in 1927, Beijing Library Monthly), "Liu Zixin's Commentary" (1930, Xiyuan Book Series), "Shu Yeyuan Old Collection of Ancient and Modern Miscellaneous Dramas" (December 1940, Beijing Library Quarterly; In November 1953, the printed edition of the Shanghai Magazine Company Publishing House was renamed "The Ancient and Modern Miscellaneous Drama Examination of the Garden".
