With the completion of the outer membrane structure, the installation of the inner air pillow and the interior decoration of the National Aquatics Center will continue, and the entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2007.

From February 1 to 5, 2008, the Water Cube will host its first test event, the China Open Swimming Championships. This was followed by the 16th FINA World Cup Diving Championships from February 19 to 24, 2008. The synchronized swimming Olympic qualification tournament will also be held here from April 16 to 20.

The National Aquatics Center, commonly known as the "Water Cube" and now renamed the "Ice Cube", is located in the southern part of the central area of the Beijing Olympic Park and is the main swimming pool built by Beijing for the 2008 Summer Olympics. During the Olympic Games, it is responsible for water sports such as swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, and water polo. Now, the "Water Cube" and the "Bird's Nest" have become Beijing's new landmarks.
