China's new democratic economy was born in the course of the new democratic revolution and is the victorious result of the new democratic revolution. Politically, the task of the new democratic revolution is to overthrow the rule and oppression of imperialism, feudalism and bureaucratic capitalism and establish a new democratic republic. Economically, it is necessary to abolish the privileges of imperialism in China, change the production relations of feudal compradors, eliminate the plunder and exploitation of imperialism, the feudal class and the bureaucratic bourgeoisie, and liberate the social productive forces.

On the eve of the victory of the New Democratic Revolution, in China's national economy, modern industry accounted for about 10 percent, and agriculture and handicrafts accounted for about 90 percent. In the modern economy, imperialism and bureaucratic capitalism have big banks, big industry. Big business and big transportation control the livelihood of the people.

Among them, the four major families of Chiang Kai-shek, Song Ziwen, Kong Xiangxi, and Chen Lifu alone have concentrated huge assets of $10 billion to $20 billion, monopolizing the country's economic lifeline. This monopoly capitalism is combined with state power to become state monopoly capitalism, and with imperialism and feudal forces, it becomes comprador feudal state monopoly capitalism. Although national capitalism also belongs to the modern economy, it is suppressed and excluded by imperialism and bureaucratic capitalism.

In the scattered and backward agrarian economy, the landlord class and the old-style rich peasants, who account for about 10 per cent of the rural population, own 70 to 80 per cent of the total land, while the poor peasants and hired peasants, who account for about 70 per cent of the rural population, have little or no land, and some middle peasants also lack land. The forms of agricultural cultivation and management are ancient, and the countryside is in a state of natural or semi-natural economy. In addition, there are handicrafts and individual businesses, which make up a small proportion of the national economy.

China's backward economic situation is the result of oppression and exploitation by imperialism, feudalism and bureaucratic capitalism, and is the economic expression of the nature of a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society. The new democratic revolution is aimed at changing China's social and economic conditions.
