If Antarctica really has no use value, why do so many countries try to gain sovereignty over Antarctica?

Later, although the dispute over Antarctic sovereignty was shelved, the actions of various countries to plant flags and occupy land have never stopped. After decades of "vertical and horizontal" cooperation, so far, there are seven internationally recognized special management areas in Antarctica.

Among them, the actual control area under the complete dominance of the United States has reached 10,000 square kilometers, and the Lassman Hills are the only Antarctic region that is not managed by the United States.

In 2007, the United States put forward a request for a 40,000-square-kilometer management area at the New Delhi conference in India. In order to counterbalance the United States, China, Russia and Australia jointly proposed the Lassman Hills Management Area (covering an area of square kilometers).

In order to win the support of the host country, the three countries even pinched their noses and recognized India's right to join the administration.

As in the world, there are big and small. In addition to these seven relatively large Special Management Areas, Antarctica actually has 172 Special Protected Areas that are mutually recognized by various countries.

Access to these protected areas requires the approval of the competent country. These types of protected areas are usually smaller, but the Harding Peak area of Mount Grove is the third largest in China, with an area of 102 square kilometres.
