"The Brief Interpretation of Master Yongjia's Preaching Song" was written by a Chinese patriarch, and his name is Xuanjue. This patriarch is from Yongjia, "Yongjia" is the place name, in Yongjia County, Wenzhou (Zhejiang Province), China. He is revered as the master of Yongjia.
When the master was four years old, his parents sent him to the temple to become a monk, and after he became a monk, he read a lot of books, because he became a monk at the age of four, and the temple specially invited someone to teach him to read, so his knowledge was very basic. Because he was so good at learning, and later devoted himself to cultivating, he became enlightened.
After he became enlightened, he did not want to benefit from the Fa alone, so he wrote the Song of the Tao to enlighten future generations, so that they would also know how to practice and understand the true Fa-rectification. This master heard that the six patriarch masters of Nanhua Temple, the lifeblood of Cao Xi, were the mantle and heart method inherited by Shakya Nyorai with his heart, ear and face, and oral heart, so he came thousands of miles to get close to the six patriarch masters in order to confirm his insight.
When he arrived at Nanhua Temple, the Sixth Patriarch Master was going to the hall to say the Dharma. So Master Yongjia put on a robe and put on a robe, held a tin staff in his hand, circled three turns to the right of the Dharma seat, and then stopped in front of the Sixth Patriarch Master, drank Zhenwei, roared, and did not bow his head. The Sixth Patriarch Master said to him:
The monk is called Shamen, and Shamen must be polite, the so-called etiquette is 300, and the majesty is 3,000, why did you come here? Rough and rude, not polite at all? Master Yongjia said
Life and death are big, and impermanence is fast. "It means that hard work is important, so what if you have time to bow? So what about the time to care about the details?
There is no time to pay attention to these etiquette three hundred, and the majesty three thousand.
Because the matter of life and death is greater than anything else, and the impermanence ghost does not know when it will come, so how can I have time to pray? The Sixth Patriarch said, "Why don't you take no life and no speed?"
Why don't you study the method of lifelessness? Why don't you understand the truth of impermanence and rapidity? Master Yongjia said
The body is lifeless, and there is no speed. "You don't need to talk about research, there is no life and death in research, and there is no speed or slowness, no impermanence. Master Six Ancestors said:
Since you say that the body is lifeless, and the body is speedless, who should be separated? Who has the meaning to separate? Master Yongjia said
Separation is also not intended. "There is not a single mind in the mind of separation. The Sixth Patriarch Master sealed him and said:
So! So! ”
Master Yongjia heard that he had been confirmed, so Zhan Dagu bowed to him and thanked him, and was about to take leave and leave. Seeing that he had come here, he was about to leave after only a few words, so the Sixth Patriarch Master said, "Why are you leaving so soon?"
Master Yongjia replied: "If you don't move, how can you be fast?" "I didn't come, I didn't go, what was slow or fast?
The Sixth Patriarch said, "You really have the intention of being lifeless. Master Yongjia said
Is there any intention to be lifeless? "It means that how can Wusheng still have a meaning? Master Six Ancestors said:
If there is no intention, who should be separated? "Who is here to separate? Master Yongjia said
Separation is also not meaningful. ”
The Sixth Patriarch said, "You can do it, but don't go." Master Yongjia really understood that the Sixth Patriarch had confirmed him, so he stayed in Nanhua Temple for a night, and generally known as "one night" - he became enlightened after staying for one night.
This is a public case for Master Yongjia to go to see the Sixth Ancestor, and the Sixth Ancestor confirmed it for him.
