Therefore, the heavens will descend on the people, and they must first suffer their minds, strain their muscles and bones, starve their bodies and skins, empty their bodies, and act chaotically.

People are permanent, and then they can change; Trapped in the heart, balanced in the worry, and then done; Signified in color, issued in sound, and then metaphor. If you enter, you will not be able to go home, and if you go out, you will be invincible to foreign patients, and the country will die.

Then he was born in sorrow and died in peace.

The heavens are about to descend on the people, which also means that the heavens are about to fall, and the great responsibility lies on such people.

From "Born in Sorrow, Died in Peace": "Heaven descends on the people, they must first suffer their minds, strain their muscles and bones, starve their bodies and skin, empty their bodies, and act chaotically, so they are tempted to endure and have benefited from their repentance." ”

Translation: Therefore, if Heaven wants to place a heavy burden on a man, he must first make his mind troubled, his bones tired, he starve, his body empty and weak, and every action he does not like, so as to motivate his mind, make him stoic, and increase his abilities that he does not possess.

The author first cites the examples of six people who have been tempered by poverty and frustration and finally taken on great responsibilities, proving that adversity can motivate people to work hard, and hardships can motivate people to achieve new things. Then, from the two different perspectives of a person's development and the rise and fall of a country, the author further argues the truth that if you are in trouble, you will be born and if you are happy, you will die.
