Friends who have read Journey to the West are no strangers, hundreds of years ago, there was a stone monkey that jumped out of a stone on the top of Huaguo Mountain, and was honored by the macaques as the "Monkey King". Later, he was stubborn and unscrupulous, and first went to the undersea Dragon Palace to snatch the "Dinghai God Needle", and then went to the underworld to mark off the name of the monkey, and even made a big fuss about the Queen Mother's Pan Taoyuan. At this time, the Buddha sent Guanyin Bodhisattva to find a person to learn the scriptures.
Guanyin Bodhisattva chose this monkey as one of the protectors, guarding Tang Sanzang to go to the west to learn scriptures. There are also Zhu Bajie, Sha Wujing, and Bailongma. The five masters and apprentices went through hardships and dangers along the way, suffered 9981 difficulties, and finally obtained the true scriptures and achieved positive results.
After the beginning of the study of the scriptures, why did the Buddha and the Jade Emperor not appreciate Guanyin Bodhisattva? There are a few main reasons for this:
1. Guanyin Bodhisattva's own personality.
First of all, Guanyin Bodhisattva is a symbol of compassion and mercy, she has the world, the people and the common people in her heart, as long as it is related to the interests of the people and the community, she will definitely be duty-bound to go to the soup and fire. Therefore, the matter of learning scriptures has nothing to do with fame, money, or returns, and naturally does not seek rewards from the Buddha and the Jade Emperor.
2. The study of scriptures is inherently beneficial to Guanyin Bodhisattva.
Tang Sanzang traveled thousands of miles to Tianzhu to learn scriptures, collected thousands of Buddhist classics, obtained true scriptures, and also profoundly influenced East Asian culture, promoted the exchange and integration of Eastern and Western cultures, and also enabled the two peoples to understand each other. Who secretly protected Tang Seng, and who sent Sun Wukong to Tang Seng to protect him from the West to learn scriptures?
It is Guanyin Bodhisattva! Therefore, all of this, I have to say, also has a share of the credit of Guanyin Bodhisattva. Therefore, the people thanked him, the Confucian scholars respected him, and the gods (including Rulai and the Jade Emperor) looked at her differently, and was this not the greatest reward for her?
The shock of the soul is often more intense than the material. Moreover, Guanyin Bodhisattva is in a high position, has seen countless ups and downs of honor and disgrace, and looks down on reputation and money, so he naturally does not care about this material.
-
This is because Guanyin only played a role in transmitting words on the way to learn scriptures in the west, and did not make a lot of contributions, so he was not rewarded.
-
Because Guanyin Bodhisattva has a very high status and has no merit, there is no reward.
-
I think the main reason is that Guanyin Bodhisattva's status is high enough, and there is no higher status for her.
-
Although Sun Wukong once offended the Jade Emperor in Journey to the West, in the end, the Jade Emperor still agreed to let them go to the West to learn scriptures. The main reason for the Jade Emperor's consent was to intensify the contradictions between Taoism and Buddhism. In fact, the Jade Emperor has been thinking of various ways to suppress the development of Buddhism.
If you can use this incident to exacerbate the conflict between the two sides, it will be very beneficial to you. After all, Rulai has been vigorously developing Buddhism, which is not a good thing for Taoism. The Buddha came to find an apprentice for the scriptures and gave Guanyin Bodhisattva three tight mantras, each of which had three "** tight bans".
If the Buddha told the Bodhisattva that if he encountered a supernatural monster on the road, he must be advised to study hard and become a disciple of a monk. If you don't give an order, you can put an iron ring on your head with him, and then when you encounter the flesh, it will take root and sprout, and each of you will recite the mantra according to your own use, and your eyes will be swollen and your head will be cracked, and you will be obedient. First, let's take a look at the leadership of the sutra team.
The biggest leader must be Tang Sanzang, and Tang Sanzang is a native of the Eastern Tang Dynasty. Dong Datang was considered the territory of Taoism at that time, but it was Buddhism that promoted the plan to learn scriptures, so this itself was a special contradiction, and the Jade Emperor could naturally see some clues from it.
Secondly, Sun Wukong has a short temper, so on the road of learning scriptures, the contradiction between Buddhism and Taoism will become bigger and bigger. After reaching a certain level, the Jade Emperor had an excuse to fight with the Buddhists. Guanyin Bodhisattva tries not to use three hoops.
The Bodhisattva thought that Sun Wukong had been pressed under the Five Fingers Mountain for more than 500 years and had repented. This realization is not naïve, let alone stupid, because anyone who has been crushed under the mountain for more than 500 years will also think about their past, repent, and look forward to being reborn. However, the Bodhisattva was wrong.
Sun Wukong is not an ordinary immortal. He is fearless, stubborn and stubborn.
In desperation, Guanyin Bodhisattva could only use the "Tightening Mantra", and Sun Wukong was restrained from then on. Even though he was restrained, he didn't jump in. It can be seen that there is no better way to restrain Sun Wukong than "tight hoops".
This is not because Guanyin Bodhisattva is incompetent, but because the opponent is special, so you can only blame the opponent. In fact, before the Western Heaven Sutra Study Project, the development of Buddhism was very good, and it can be said that it was smooth sailing, and its influence was getting bigger and bigger. Although the Jade Emperor has always been up and down on the surface, the Jade Emperor himself knows that Buddhism will one day get out of his control, so at this time, the Jade Emperor's top priority is to find a way to suppress Buddhism, and the best way to suppress Buddhism is to break out into war and let the power of Buddhism be lost in the war.
-
Mainly because of the contradiction between Taoism and Buddhism, and the Jade Emperor wanted to suppress the development of Buddhism through methods, in order to avoid the intensification of the contradiction, so he agreed.
-
It was because the contradiction between Taoism and Buddhism was particularly big at that time, and then the Jade Emperor had no choice, so he agreed to the plan of the Buddha to learn the scriptures.
-
Because the Jade Emperor felt that this matter could exercise the courage and fighting spirit of the four masters and apprentices, and only they could complete this plan, he would agree.
-
This is because Guanyin Bodhisattva itself has a very high status in the Buddha world, and in the process of learning scriptures, the Bodhisattva privately gave the mantra to Tang Seng and earned it himself. There were two disciples, so the Buddha believed that Guanyin Bodhisattva had compensated for her merits in this matter, so there was no change in her status.
-
Because the status of Guanyin Bodhisattva is already very high, there is no need to improve it online, and secondly, because Guanyin Bodhisattva is an auxiliary role in the process of learning scriptures.
-
Because the original status of Guanyin Bodhisattva is very high, and this is the task of the Bodhisattva, there is no change.
-
Because the Buddha was testing Tang Seng, he didn't plan to let Tang Seng take the scriptures directly, butIt is necessary to let Tang Seng exchange the scriptures. Tang Seng finally reached the West Heaven after many tribulations, but when he took away the scriptures, he met two Venerable Ones who asked for "personnel". "Personnel" is the benefit fee.
Tang Seng didn't expect to pay a benefit fee for learning scriptures, so he directly said no. Many readers also don't understand why His Holiness still asks Tang Seng for a favor. But looking at the reaction of the Buddha later, he was informed.
Tang Seng did not pay the benefit fee, and the two Venerables gave Tang Seng a wordless scripture, that is, a fake scripture. After Tang Seng and others found out, they rushed back and complained to the Buddha, why did they give fake scriptures without a benefit fee? When the Buddha heard this, he not only did not get angry, but also persuaded Tang Seng to pay the benefit fee.
He said, "The sutras should not be passed on lightly, nor should they be taken empty," which shows that the Buddha agreed with His Holiness's approach. If Tang Seng wants to take the scriptures, he has to take the benefit fee. Don't you think it's strange that Buddhism is not pure with six roots?
What more benefits do you need?
The Buddha wanted to tell Tang Seng that if he wanted to get, he had to pay. Tang Seng felt that he had gone through a lot of hardships to learn the scriptures, and he was acting on orders, and he should have obtained it for free. However, the Buddha said that there should be a benefit fee for learning scriptures, and Buddhism did not send scriptures to the Tang Dynasty for free.
Tang Seng only then knew that he had to pay the price if he got the scriptures. He exchanged his purple gold bowl for the scriptures. This purple gold bowl was given to him by Tang Seng's sworn brother Tang Taizong, and it was used to turn into a golden bowl.
Tang Seng only has this valuable thing on his body.
Tang Seng would exchange this bowl for scriptures, also because he knew that scriptures were not easy to take. Although the purple gold bowl is valuable, it is worth exchanging it for scriptures. Why did the Buddha emphasize exchanging rather than taking?
Just like in life, some people want others to help them unconditionally in their time of need. When others don't help, they will say that they will not save them when they die, and scold them in turn. This kind of thinking of taking is not right, and who has the obligation to help you unconditionally?
In general, Tang Seng's act of changing scriptures is not a "bribe", but a rule. The Buddha is lacking in respect to emphasize that this kind of social rule is the source of the source, and should not be blindly taken, and if you want to get, you must pay.
There is no way to deal with Sun Wukong, because all the gods are not contributing, and they are unwilling to fight Sun Wukong to the end, and when the dignity of the heavenly court is almost destroyed, the gods will use their housekeeping skills.
Passing away is just us. What has passed away is only the incarnation of the Buddha. The Buddha has three bodies, the Dharma body, the retribution body, and the incarnation. >>>More
