2) According to the Fifty Proofreading Sutras of Mingdu (Dafang and other Great Collection Sutras, Volume 59) and the Fifth Five-Five-Year Book of the Zhiguan Auxiliary Transmission and Transmission of the Hongduan (Huiben), etc., when the six roots of the eyes, ears, and nose are objected to the realm of the six dusts, such as color, sound, and incense, each has three distinctions: good, evil, and peace (non-good and non-evil), which are combined into eighteen kinds, and each one is divided into three kinds of dyed and purified, which are combined into thirty-six kinds. The compound is composed of three lives, the past, the future, and the present, which are combined into one hundred and eight afflictions.

3) According to the five years of the fifth volume of the Zhiguan Auxiliary Practice, the six roots have their own suffering, happiness, and giving, and they are combined into eighteen kinds; Each of the six roots has three kinds of good, evil, and peace, which are combined into eighteen kinds, for a total of thirty-six kinds; Combined with the past, the future, and the present, it is combined into one hundred and eight kinds of troubles of the hidden sect. In addition, the temple strikes the bell one hundred and eight times in the morning and night, which means to eliminate one hundred and eight kinds of troubles. Along with the number of one hundred and eight afflictions, there are one hundred and eight recitations, one hundred and eight beads, one hundred and eight samadhi, one hundred and eight deities, and so on.

The meaning is: refers to the troubles that arise with the six root afflictions, and Yujing says that there are twenty kinds of afflictions in the Mahayana Hundred Laws, and these twenty kinds of afflictions arise with the heart, so they are also called branch troubles, or confusion. It can be divided into three broad categories; 1. Small troubles, namely anger, hatred, revenge, annoyance, jealousy, slander, flattery, harm, and sorrow; Second, the potato feast with troubles, that is, there are two kinds of no shame and no shame; 3. The eight kinds of troubles, namely, the eight kinds of disappointments, such as distraction, disappointment, disbelief, slackness, indulgence, loss of thought, scatteredness, and uncorrect knowledge.
