Original text] Ziri: "Clever words (1), fresh and benevolent." Notes】 (1) Lingse:
order, good, good; color, complexion. Confucius said, "Clever words and a pleasing face are rarely benevolent."
Reading comprehension] Clever words. This is a portrait of a hypocrite. If you add Mencius's borrowing of Zengzi's two strokes, it is really wonderful.
Zeng Zi said: "Laughing on the shoulders, sick in Xia Qi." "Shrugging up your shoulders and making a flattering smile is worse than working in a vegetable field under the poisonous summer sun!
Mencius Tengwen Gongxia) The Confucian contempt for hypocrites is beyond words. Confucius's rebuke of "clever words" alone is recorded three times in the Analects (the other two are found in "Yang Goods" and "Gongye Chang"). Historically, however, in reality, the number of people who have been so clever and ridiculous has not diminished because of the contempt of the saints.
Although they have no benevolence and morality, it is difficult to achieve positive results, but they have a place to use, which can separate their wives, ruin their families, and cause chaos in the country. So, to this day, we still have to keep in mind what the saints reminded us of, and always be wary of those hypocrites who talk flatteringly and smile badly.

A person who speaks flattering words and pretends to be kind to others is very little virtuous.
-
It should be "clever words make the color fresh and benevolent" means: rhetoric, a flattering face, such a person is rarely benevolent.
-
Meaning: A person who is skillful and eloquent, flamboyant, sycophant, and good at superficial pretentiousness rarely achieves the realm of benevolence.

Benevolence comes from human nature, and everyone is self-sufficient, but because of the bad habits of the day after tomorrow, the character of benevolence cannot be revealed. To learn the Tao first, this Tao is the "Tao" in the "Book of Changes" and "Lao Tzu", which is the "Tao" that Confucius said "my Tao is consistent".
However, "Tao" is not easy to understand, so we can only retreat to the second best thing and talk about "morality" first. "Tao Te Ching" is dedicated to "Tao" and "Virtue", "Dao" is the body, "Virtue" is the use of "Dao", but even if it is "Virtue", it is still not easy to understand, so you can only take a step back and start from talking about "benevolence".

Zi said: Clever words, fresh and benevolent.
This phrase is very famous. In fact, many of Confucius's students are in line with the "ability to speak the Tao", but the Confucius who did not see them hated them, here the father and son emphasized the "golden mean", if the performance is excessive when speaking, can speak the Tao, sometimes entangled in the personality is too straight, whether it is too hurtful to speak too much, and feel that maintaining a sincere attitude towards life is a very important thing. Sweetella is too flashy, inevitably less sincere, unconvincing, and not necessarily good for moving forward.
Of course, speaking too directly is not necessarily good, and it is easy to hurt people. Therefore, being sincere is a good way of communication, standing in the perspective of others to communicate sincerely, neither clever words, nor too direct, can achieve good communication results.
Zeng Zi said: My day and three provinces and my body: seeking for others but not loyalty? Making friends and not believing them? Do you believe it or not?
We have to reflect on these three questions every day:
1. Plotting with others but not being loyal? It's about career. Loyalty is dedication, so how can we do it with all our hearts?
It's about working with thoughts! Don't just listen to what the leader says, but do things with the leader's true intentions in mind. Don't just be superficial, think about how to do it in order to have a long-term development.
2. Make friends but don't believe it? Refers to relationships. Emphasizing that you should maintain credit when interacting with friends, it is not easy to maintain credit, sometimes you can't do it, sometimes you don't want to do it, and there is another situation where you think you can do it.
In order not to happen to these situations, we must be restrained in our commitments!
3. Are you used to it? It refers to self-cultivation. See if you are doing better, and blame or teach others if you have done it?
Sometimes, if we want to hide our thoughts or hide what we do, we lie. It is impossible for a person to live his life without lying, it can be benign or malicious. Some people's joys and sorrows will be expressed, they are not good at arguing with others, and their lies are easily exposed. >>>More
