This railway, also known as the Xingri Railway or the south-central passage of Shanxi, starts from Xingxian County, Luliang City, Shanxi Province in the west to Rizhao Port in Shandong Province in the east. It is a key project of railway construction in China's "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", an important coal resource transportation channel connecting the east and west of China, and the world's first railway built according to the standard of 30-ton heavy-haul railway. It was officially put into operation on December 30, 2014.
The design standard of this railway is the first class of the national railway, the double line electrification, and the design speed is 120 kilometers per hour. The designed freight capacity is 200 million tons per year, and the passenger car is 15 pairs per day.
The railway is designed as a 30-ton heavy-haul line that allows ordinary trains, but the use of bullet trains is not considered in the design.
