On December 25, 1999, the 13th Session of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress passed Amendment (I) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into force on December 25, 1999, the date of promulgation.
On August 31, 2001, the 23rd Session of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress passed Amendment (II) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into force on the date of promulgation, i.e., August 31, 2001.
On December 29, 2001, the 25th Session of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress passed Amendment (III) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into force on December 29, 2001, the date of promulgation.
On December 28, 2002, the 31st Session of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress passed the Amendment (IV) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into force on December 28, 2002, the date of promulgation.
On February 28, 2005, the 14th Session of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People's Congress passed Amendment (V) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into force on February 28, 2005, the date of promulgation.
On June 29, 2006, the 22nd Session of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People's Congress passed Amendment (VI) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into force on June 29, 2006, the date of promulgation.
On February 28, 2009, the Seventh Session of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People's Congress passed Amendment (VII) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into force on February 28, 2009, the date of promulgation.
On February 25, 2011, the 19th Session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress passed Amendment (8) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into force on May 1, 2011.
On August 29, 2015, the 16th Session of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress passed the Amendment (IX) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into force on November 1, 2015.
On November 4, 2017, the 30th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress voted to pass the "Amendment (10) to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China", which will come into force on the date of promulgation.

In just 14 years since the new Criminal Code came into force in 1997, China has amended it eight times. They are: the 1999 Amendment to the Criminal Law (1-year Amendment (2) (3) (3) (4) (5) (6) and 2011 (8) of the Criminal Law).
Amendment IX to the Criminal Law has been drafted since 2013 and has not yet been formally adopted.
