1. Pick the fruit

If you want to grow pineapples indoors, you must first select pineapples that are suitable for cultivation. The pineapple used for cultivation needs to be fully ripe, the leaves are still in the blue-green stage, and its skin is relatively full and symmetrical, without the characteristics of insect moth and decay, and its top leaves will not shake and fall off.

2. Deal with the crown top

Once the right pineapple has been selected, it needs to be processed, and only the crown part of the pineapple is used as the cultivation material, which is cut off with a knife, and then the flesh is brushed clean to prevent rotting, and then it is left upside down on the balcony to dry until the wound heals.

3. Cultivation method

There are two main methods of cultivating pineapples indoors, which are hydroponics and soil culture. The hydroponic method is to put the top of the pineapple crown that has healed in the water body, so that the water surface is slightly lower than the lower end of its leaves, and the soil culture method is to use loose and fertile sandy soil as a substrate to cultivate the pineapple crown top in the hall and drain the maintenance.

4. Maintenance work

Hydroponic pineapples need to be replaced every 1-2 days or so to ensure the cleanliness of the water body, so as not to affect the growth and development of pineapples, while the pineapples need to be properly watered, slightly wet, and the temperature should be stable above 18 degrees Celsius, and no sudden drop can occur.

Prepare for the crown bud The crown bud is the top part of the pineapple fruit and is the most nutritious, so it is best to use it for planting! When cutting the crown buds, pay attention to the place where the junction is cut, and do not leave the pulp. You will see that there are dots on the faceted surface, which is the root primordium, one, the selection of buds.

You can cut off the part that grows on the pineapple and peel off the excess flesh around it, or you can slightly peel off the bottom few leaves to leave the complete top bud.

Pineapples are good to grow, mainly because of the climate. When you buy a pineapple, cut off the leaves and clean the flesh on the leaves, and then break off the lower leaves to reveal the white rhizomes. Then place in a cool and ventilated place and let the wound dry for 1-2 days.

Cut off a pineapple, without the pulp, leaving the leaves and removing the dry leaves from the bottom. Then remove the small leaves at the bottom, expose the white stems, leave about ten large leaves, leave them in a cool place for three or five days, wait until the wound heals, then put them in a glass, add water, the water should be higher than the white stems, lower than the bottom of the leaves, put them in a bright place, change the water every day, under normal circumstances, roots will grow in a few weeks, and then transplant it to a pot with good drainage, water it, fertilize it, and supplement the light.

The growing season consumes a lot of water, so it is necessary to water and replenish water frequently to make the soil moister, but there should be no waterlogging. It is also necessary to supplement fertilizer several times to ensure adequate nutrition.

4. Plant into the soil. Once the potting soil is ready, the rooting pineapple heads can be planted in the soil. Be careful when planting and try not to hurt the root system.

Also pay attention to the depth of planting, about 5 cm deep into the soil. After planting, water thoroughly in time to soak the soil. Rooted pineapples are highly adaptable and will soon sprout new shoots and resume growth.

5. Later maintenance. After germination, the pineapple needs to be moved to a well-lit place, let it bask in the sun more often, and receive enough light. Note that watering must be done too often, it is drought tolerant, and it should be watered about once a week.

In the peak growing season, it is necessary to top dressing in time, and organic fertilizer can be applied. With sufficient fertilizer and water and a suitable environment, potted pineapples will bloom quickly.
