5.Zhejiang University, formerly known as Qiushi Academy, was founded in 1897 and is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning founded by Chinese themselves.
6.Wuhan University, the history of Wuhan University can be traced back to the self-improvement school founded by Zhang Zhidong, the governor of Huguang in the late Qing Dynasty (1893), and then changed the name of the school, and was officially named National Wuhan University in July 1928.
7.East China University of Political Science and Law, in June 1952, with the approval of the East China Military and Political Commission, East China University of Political Science and Law was established by the merger of the law, political science and social departments of the former nine colleges and universities, including St. John's University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Soochow University, Xiamen University, Hujiang University, and Anhui University.

Late Qing Dynasty. In 1896, the Tianjin Chinese and Western School was transformed into the Beiyang University Hall, marking the birth of the first university in modern China.
However, many scholars believe that St. John's University (founded in 1879), which evolved from St. John's College in Shanghai, was the first university in modern China.
As some scholars continue to deepen their research on the history of modern Chinese higher education, they have gradually discovered that the earliest church university in modern China was Qilu University (founded in 1864), which evolved from Dengzhou Higher School in Fujian Shandong.
In 1898, Jingshi University was established as the first national university and comprehensive university in modern China.
-
It is a foreign church university born in the sixties of the 19th century--- Shanghai St. John University.
The earliest government-run universities in China were Peiyang University Hall (1895), followed by Nanyang College (1896) and Beijing Normal University Hall (1898). The predecessors of Wuhan University (1893) and Zhejiang University (1897) were traditional Chinese academies and could not be included in the list of universities. Therefore, before 1895, St. Johan's University was the only university in China, and certainly the best.

The first three universities in China were:
1.Peking university.
Peking University, founded in 1898 as Beijing Normal University, was the first national university in modern China, and the first school established with the identity and name of "university", which can be called the beginning of modern higher education in China. In 1912, it was renamed Peking University. In 1916, the famous educator Cai Yuanpei became the president, which brought the first era to Peking University, with a large number of masters and talents.
2.Tianjin University.
Tianjin University originated from the Tianjin Beiyang Western School, which was founded on October 2, 1895, and its motto is "seeking truth from facts". In September 1951, Peiyang University merged with Hebei Institute of Technology and was named Tianjin University. Although Tianjin University's reputation and strength cannot be compared with Peking University, its strength and influence in the field of engineering are also good, and it is still a double-first-class key university.
Many disciplines can also be ranked among the top in the country.
3.Shanxi University.
Shanxi University was founded in 1902, when it was called Shanxi University Hall, and was renamed Shanxi University in 1912. In 1918, it was renamed National Shanxi University, and it was not until 1931 that it was named Shanxi University. After all, Shanxi University does not have the advantage of the first two schools in terms of geographical location, so the development is far inferior to them, and now although it is named after the province, it was not selected, and the double first-class in 2017 was unfortunately missed again, so that it once again lost the opportunity for development.

It may be the difference in the concept of education, foreign college students enter the university and begin to enrich themselves and learn what they are interested in, while many Chinese college students enter the university as if they enter a nursing home, because of the heavy pressure of high school or even junior high school, they feel that they are liberated when they enter the university, and no one cares about it, so they become very loose.
