When Jordan took office in 1990, the conference restructured the nine most important tournaments at the time, except for the Grand Slam, into the Super Nine tournament, which later became the Tennis Masters Series. At the end of the tennis season each November, the top eight players in the world can also compete in an ATP World Tour Finals with a round-robin group. The tournament is currently held in London, England.
On August 31, 2007, the ATP announced that it would implement a large-scale restructuring in 2009. The Tennis Masters Cup is a tennis tournament that takes place at the end of each year and contests the top eight players in the men's ATP Championship Ranking for that year. However, according to the rules of the Masters, a player who finishes eighth in the ATP championship ranking does not necessarily qualify. If a player is one of the four Grand Slam champions of the year and is ranked within the top 20 (but outside of eighth), he can replace the eighth-ranked player in the Masters Cup, but if more than one player meets the above criteria, the winner with the highest ranking will take precedence.
Unlike other men's tournaments, the Masters is not a straight-out tournament. Instead, all 8 players are divided into two groups of 4 players in a single round-robin format, i.e. each player must play the other players in the group once. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals, and the winners of the semi-finals advance to the finals to compete for the title.
The 2008 Masters Cup in Shanghai was the last tournament in history, and since 2009, the Masters has been renamed the "ATP World Tour Finals".

This victory increased Liu Shiwen's points advantage, and Ito Mijo's points advantage expanded to 680 points after this competition. Liu Shiwen, who is obviously behind in points, will be in a disadvantageous position, which may lead to the two Chinese players being in the same half, which is very unfavorable for the Chinese team to win gold in the Olympic Games.
