l The old version of the passport can be directly changed to the new version of the passport when it expires and is renewed, and there is no need to go to the special place to renew it.

Since 1 September 2002, Shanghai has been collecting passports on demand on a trial basis, which can be handled at the Exit and Entry Administration with your ID card.

Beijing, Guangzhou and other cities still implement the 97 new version of the passport application method, and the procedures for applicants to apply for passports are correspondingly simplified, and they only need to submit the following documents to obtain a passport within the specified working hours. 1. Bring your ID card to the local exit and entry administration to get the application form;

2. Fill in the application form and go to the personnel department or party committee where the file is located to affix the red seal and the signature of the person in charge. The child's application form only needs to be signed by the parents. The application form is required to be in duplicate;

3. Submit one of the following materials according to the different purposes of going abroad:

a.Full travel invoice of a travel agency recognized by the state with overseas travel business qualifications (for the purpose of traveling abroad. That is, the travel agency can help with the passport, but the application ** still has to get back the unit stamp).

b.Certificate of self-financed study qualification (for the purpose of studying abroad at your own expense).

c. Exemption from overseas invitation materials (e.g. for the purpose of visiting friends.) If you have a foreign friend, you only need to fill in the name of the foreign friend on the application form, when you arrived in the country and other information, and you do not need to submit any additional supporting materials, it is recommended to handle it in this way).

4. Original and photocopy of household registration book and ID card;

When citizens go abroad for private purposes, they generally refer to visiting relatives, friends, getting married, inheriting inheritance, receiving medical treatment, going to funerals, studying at their own expense, employment, traveling, etc., as well as leaving the country to settle down or other non-official activities.

If you leave the country (territory) for private purposes, you must first submit an application to the exit and entry administration department of the local public security bureau, and make relevant inquiries and complete the following procedures:

Submit a household register or other proof of household registration for inspection;

Fill in the Exit Application Form (**in quadruplicate, must be completed with a pen). According to the Chinese (border) reasons, understand the required supporting materials and documents, and the foreign language materials to be submitted should be translated into Chinese according to the regulations, and translated by the translation unit designated by the public security department;

In principle, the person applying for going abroad for private purposes shall only be examined and approved by the organization and personnel department of the unit where the relationship (file) is located and the personnel department of the organization at the next higher level;

Submit proof corresponding to the reason for leaving the country (territory). There are different requirements according to the reason for going abroad.

To apply for a passport, a Chinese citizen shall bring the following materials to the relevant authority for passport issuance: his/her household registration booklet, his/her resident identity document, a recent bareheaded ID photograph and relevant materials indicating the reason for application. At the same time, it should also be noted that if you are a staff member of a state agency, you also need to submit relevant supporting documents in accordance with the regulations if you go abroad for non-official reasons such as foreign settlement, family visits, study, employment, travel, and business activities.

For citizens who go abroad on official business, after the work unit submits an application to the first door, they can also directly sign the air to let the foreign passport or official passport be issued by the first door.

Laws. Passport Law of the People's Republic of China Article 6 Citizens applying for ordinary passports shall submit their resident identity cards, household registration booklets, recent bareheaded** and relevant materials for the purpose of application. Where state employees leave the country to apply for ordinary passports for reasons provided for in Article 5 of this Law, they shall also submit relevant supporting documents in accordance with relevant state provisions.

If a passport cannot be issued on time in a remote area or an area with inconvenient transportation, or due to special circumstances, the issuance time may be extended to 30 days with the approval of the person in charge of the passport issuing authority.

Where a citizen requests expedited processing due to reasonable and urgent reasons, the exit-entry administration of the public security organ shall handle it in a timely manner.

Article 8 Diplomatic passports shall be held by diplomats, consuls, their accompanying spouses, minor children and diplomatic couriers.

Employees dispatched by China working in embassies and consulates of the People's Republic of China abroad, or in the United Nations, specialized agencies of the United Nations and other international organizations, and their accompanying spouses and minor children shall hold official passports.

If a citizen other than the provisions of the preceding two paragraphs goes abroad to perform official duties, his or her work unit shall submit an application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in accordance with the provisions of paragraphs 2 and 3 of Article 4 of this Law, and the Ministry shall issue a diplomatic passport or an official passport as needed.
