Syllables: Syllables are the basic units of pronunciation, and the pronunciation of any word is broken down into syllables and read aloud. In English, vowels are particularly loud, a vowel can form a syllable, and a vowel can be combined with one or several consonant phonemes to form a syllable.
Generally speaking, vowels can form syllables, and consonants that are not loud and cannot form syllables. However, there are 4 consonants in the English consonant alphabet [m], [n], [ng], [l] that are loud sounds, and they combine with consonant phonemes to form syllables. The syllables they form tend to appear at the end of the word and are generally unstressed syllables.
English words have one syllable, two syllables, multiple syllables, one syllable is called monosyllable, two syllables are called two-syllable, and more than three syllables are called polysyllabic. Such as: take, ta'BLE table, POTA'to potato, pop ula'TION population, congrat ula'tion Congratulations.
tel'ecommu`nica'TION Telecommunications.
Method of dividing syllables: vowels are the main body that makes up syllables, and consonants are the dividing lines of syllables. No matter how many vowels there are between two consonants, they are generally one syllable.
Such as: bed, bet, seat, beat, beaut excellent beau'ty beauty. When there is a consonant letter between two vowel letters, the consonant letter is returned to the next syllable, as in:
stu'DENT Student, LA'bour labor. When there are two consonant letters, one consonant letter is returned to the previous syllable, and one is returned to the last syllable, e.g. let'ter letter, win'ter winter.
Monograms, which cannot be split, divide syllables by alphabetical combinations. Such as: FA'Ther father, tea'CHER Teachers.
The pronunciation soul of words is vowels, and it is not difficult to master this.
Here's how it works: look from the left side of the word to the right, and use a vowel plus the consonant to its left as a syllable. If the vowel is not preceded by a consonant, it is a separate syllable; If the letters of the two reasons coincide, they are considered two syllables.
If a consonant is followed by no reason, then it is also considered a single syllable.

In English, a monosyllabic is a syllable that contains only one vowel, and a two-syllable is a word that contains two syllables, both of which are accented on the first syllable. Polysyllabic refers to those that contain more than three syllables.
English words have one syllable, two syllables, multiple syllables, one syllable is called a monosyllabic word, two syllables are called two-syllable words, and more than two syllables are called polysyllabic.
For example, take is a monosyllabic word; 'Ta-ble tables are two-syllable words; po-'ta-to potato, po-pu-'la-tion population, con-gra-tu-'Congratulations on la-tion, te-le-com-mu-ni-'ca-tion, telecommunications, etc., are polysyllabic words.
The core of a syllable is the vowel, and vowels can form syllables alone or together with consonant letters. The e at the end of the take word is not pronounced, so it is a monosyllabic word.
Be careful not to confuse vowels with vowel letters. The division of syllables is based on vowels, and if the vowel letters are not pronounced, they cannot form syllables. If two vowel letters are pronounced together, but only one vowel is pronounced, it still counts as one syllable.
Open syllables and closed syllables in monosyllabics
1. There are two kinds of open syllables and open syllables, one is called absolute open syllable, which is relatively open syllable.
Absolute open syllable: A stressed syllable that is not followed by a single vowel letter without a conjunctive group. For example:
No blue ba-by stu-dent se-cret is a relative open syllable: a single vowel followed by a single consonant letter followed by an unpronounced letter e is an accented syllable. For example:
name these bike home ex-cuse.
2. Closed syllables, stressed syllables with a single vowel letter followed by a conjunctive group (except r w y) and ending with a conjunctive group. For example: bag egg fish not cup.
The first syllable of a two-syllable word is usually an accented syllable. Two-syllable words with prefixes such as a- be- de- re- in- ex- tend to be stressed on the second syllable. The stress position of two-syllable words does not change by adding a prefix or suffix.
Polysyllabic words are usually accented on the penultimate syllable. Words with -ic or -tion, -sion, are accented on a syllable before -ic or -sion, -tion.
-
Generally speaking, there are several vowel phonemes in a word, there are several syllables, note that it is a vowel phoneme, not the number of vowel letters, for example, the letter combination oo, au, ee, etc. only counts one phoneme.
Words containing one vowel phoneme are called monosyllabic words, words containing two are called two-syllable words, and words containing three or more are called polysyllabic words.
-
There are many types of multi-syllable words. Generally speaking, a vowel is a syllable, and a word with multiple or more vowels is a polysyllabic word.
For example, in-ter-na-tion-al is a polysyllabic word, while can, bus, and what have only one vowel sound, and they are monosyllabic words.
For example, take is a monosyllable; ta'The BLE table is a two-syllable; po ta'to potato, pop ula'TION population, congrat ula'tion Congratulations. te le com mu`ni ca'tion telecommunications are polysyllabic.
Polysyllabic words are pronounced for more than two reasons. Such as: expensive beautiful
A syllable that contains three or more vowel phonemes is called a polysyllabic word; English words are made up of letters, and letters make up syllables. In general, there are as many syllables as there are vowels in a word. Some words contain only one syllable, while others contain two, three, or more syllables, which are called monosyllabic, disyllabic, and polysyllabic words, respectively.
