Are spanned volumes fault-tolerant?
-
Five types of volumes on dynamic disks.
1. Simple volume: A volume that constitutes a single physical disk space. It can consist of a single region on a disk or multiple regions joined together on the same disk, and a simple volume can be expanded within the same disk.
2. Cross-spanned volumes: Simple volumes can also be extended to other physical disks, so that a volume composed of space from multiple physical disks is called a spanned volume. Simple volumes and spanned volumes are not part of the RAID category.
3. Zoned volume: A volume that stores data on two or more physical disks in the form of zoned. The data on the zoned volumes is distributed to these disks alternately, evenly (in striped form), and the zoned volume is the best performing of all the volumes available in Windows 2000, but it does not provide fault tolerance without arguing.
If any one of the disks on a striped volume is corrupted or the disk fails, the entire volume will be lost. A zoned volume can be thought of as RAID0 in hardware RAID.
4. Mirrored volume: A fault-tolerant volume that copies data on two physical disks. It provides data redundancy by replicating the information in the volume by using a copy (mirror) of the volume, which is always on another disk.
If one of the physical disks fails, the data on that failed disk becomes unavailable, but the system can continue with the unaffected disks. A mirrored volume can be thought of as RAID1 in a hardware RAID.
5. RAID 5 Volume: A fault-tolerant volume with data and parity, sometimes distributed over three or more physical disks, and parity is used to reconstruct data after the array column failure. If a portion of the physical disk fails, you can recreate the data on the failed portion of the disk with the remaining data and parity information.
Similar to RAID 5 in hardware RAID, RAID 5 is rare in hardware IDE RAID and is usually only available in SCSI RAID cards and high-end IDE RAID cards, and ordinary IDE RAID cards only provide RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 0 1.

Simple volume: is a volume created using the disk space of a dynamic disk;
A spanned volume: is a volume that consists of storage space on two or more hard disks, each of which does not have to provide the same disk space;
Zoned volume: A volume composed of two or more hard disks, each of which must contribute the same amount of space.
Mirrored volume: is a fault-tolerant volume that copies data on two physical hard disks;
RAID-5 Volumes: RAID is an abbreviation for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks, i.e. Cheap Redundant Disk Array, also known simply as Disk Array, RAID-5 Volumes are fault-tolerant disk arrays that can be set up with at least 3 hard drives, each of which must provide the same disk space.

3.Can I enable disk quotas on files?
You can't enable disk quotas on files; The disk quota feature is to limit the disk space that the user can use, and when the files stored by the user reach the specified capacity, a message will appear that the disk space is full.
4.When I set a quota item, can I set a disk quota for a group? Is it possible to limit the number of files?
The disk quota restriction system can be set for users, but not for groups.
The disk quota feature can only limit the amount of disk space used by the user, but not the number of files.

1.Simple Volume: Contains disk space on a single disk, just like partitioning.
When there are two or more dynamic disks in the system and there is unallocated space on both disks, we can choose between the following two types of volume splitting).
2.Cross-spanned volumes: Cross-spanned volumes combine unallocated space from multiple disks into a single logical volume.
3.Zoned Volumes: Combine multiple (2 to 32) disks to talk about the unallocated space on the sidegrind into one volume.
If the two dynamic disks in the system are of the same capacity as described above, we will see another partition method).
4.Mirrored volume: Two identical copies of a single volume, each on a single hard disk. This is what we often call RAID 1.
When we have three or more dynamic disks, we can use RAID 5, which is a more complex RAID method, and a new form of volume splitting will appear in the volume splitting interface.
Volume 5: Equivalent to a zone volume with parity and bucket, i.e., RAID 5 mode.

A partition is a number of areas into which a disk is divided; After assigning a drive letter to the partition and formatting it, you can access the partition, and the partition can be called a drive.
There are two types of disks: basic disks and dynamic disks. Partitions on a basic disk are called basic volumes, and partitions on a dynamic disk are called dynamic volumes.
Inclusion relationships: Disk max (there are two types, basic and dynamic), and then partitions (drives).
This is my understanding.
Basic and dynamic disks can be converted, and basic disks are generally used. It's easy to convert from basic to dynamic, but it's more troublesome to convert from dynamic to basic, you have to delete all partitions on the disk and then convert them.
First, the reference is different.
1. Dynamic disk: refers to the local hard disk upgraded in the disk manager of the Windows operating system. >>>More
