The origin of the names of Suti and Bai Ti, and who is Bai Ti Suti related to?

They were repaired by Su Dongpo and Bai Juyi when they were Hangzhou Taishou.

In the Tang Dynasty, when Bai Juyi was appointed as the assassin of Hangzhou, he built an embankment, called "Baigong Embankment", and called it "White Causeway". The Su Causeway was built by dredging the West Lake when the Northern Song Dynasty poet Su Shi (Dongpo) was the governor of Hangzhou, and the dredging silt was used.

Hangzhou Su Causeway is the Northern Song Dynasty poet Su Shi (Dongpo) when he was the governor of Hangzhou when he dredged the West Lake, using the dredging of the silt to build, Hangzhou people commemorate the achievements of Su Dongpo to govern the West Lake, named it "Sugong Causeway", referred to as "Su Causeway".

1. The white embankment, formerly known as the white sand embankment, was built to store lake water for irrigation of farmland. The old paving with white sand has now been changed to asphalt pavement. As early as the Tang Dynasty more than 1,000 years ago, it was famous for its beautiful scenery.

People thought that this embankment was built by Bai Juyi, so it was called the white embankment. In fact, when Bai Juyi was the assassin of Hangzhou, he built an embankment near the stone culvert bridge outside the Qiantang Gate in the old days, called Baigong Embankment, which is now no longer traced. Although the White Causeway as people know it today is not in the same direction as the White Causeway built by Bai Juyi, the people of Hangzhou still name it the White Causeway in order to commemorate the "old mayor" who made outstanding contributions to Hangzhou.

2. Su Causeway was in the fifth year of Yuan You (1090) when Su Dongpo served as the assassin of Hangzhou, Zeng Su Causeway was the famous literati of the Northern Song Dynasty Su Shi (Su Dongpo) when he came to Hangzhou for the second time to be an official, commanding more than 200,000 people to use the grass and silt dug up when dredging the West Lake. Since the Southern Song Dynasty (13th century), "Spring Dawn at Su Causeway" is the first of the "Ten Views of West Lake". But the Su Causeway that visitors see today has long since recovered the original state of the construction on the eastern slope, and must have undergone countless additions and repairs, renovating the road surface and planting trees.

For example, Yang Mengying, the governor of Hangzhou during the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty, who built the "Yanggong Embankment" in Lixi Lake, once used part of the silt from the dredging of the West Lake to replenish the "Su Causeway". In other words, the beauty of today's "Su Causeway" is not achieved by Su Dongpo alone. In order to cherish the political achievements of building an embankment with silver leakage in the dredging lake of Su Dongpo, the descendants called this north-south embankment the Su causeway.

Extended information: The white embankment is wide and bright, densely planted with weeping willows by the lake, and the outer layer is peach blossoms of various colors. In March and April, the narrow green leaves of the weeping willows are covered with soft willow branches, dancing in the lake breeze, and the willow branches flutter into the lake.

The weeping willows and the lake make people feel the seamless harmony and affection of nature. The scenery of Bai Causeway has four distinct seasons: spring peach and summer willow, autumn laurel and winter snow, with a unique style.

The Su Causeway, formerly known as the Sugong Causeway, is a tree-lined embankment that runs through the north and south scenic areas of the West Lake, and is now 2,797 meters long. There are Yingbo, Suolan, Wangshan, pressing embankment, Dongpu, and crossing the Hongliu Bridge on the embankment, which is simple and beautiful. Su Dongpo once had a poem:

I came to Qiantang to expand the lake green, and the embankment women fought for prosperity. The six bridges cross the heavens and the Han, and the north mountain begins to pass with the south screen. "Flowers and trees are planted all over the embankment, and there are more than 40 varieties such as weeping willow, peach, begonia, hibiscus, wisteria, etc.

Whenever the cold winter passes, the spring breeze blows, Su Causeway is like a spring messenger who comes flutteringly, the willows are sandwiched between the banks, and the peaches are scorching.
