Turn the multimeter knob to the DC voltage 30V gear (or use the general DC voltmeter appropriate gear), connect the red watch pen to the generator "armature" column, and the black watch pen to the shell, so that the engine runs above medium speed, the voltage standard value of the 12V electrical system should be about 14V, and the voltage standard value of the 24V electrical system should be about 28V. If the measured voltage is the battery voltage, it means that the generator does not generate electricity.
3. Another ammeter is connected for detection.
If there is no ammeter on the dashboard of the car, an external DC ammeter can be used to detect it. First remove the generator "armature" column wire, and then connect the positive pole of the DC ammeter with a range of about 20A to the generator "armature", and connect the negative wire to the above-mentioned removed joint. When the engine is running above medium speed (no other electrical equipment is used), the ammeter has a 3A 5A charging indication, indicating that the generator is working normally, otherwise the generator does not generate electricity.
4. Use car bulbs to measure.
If you don't have a multimeter and a DC meter, you can use a car bulb to test the light. Solder the bulb to the ends of the bulb with wires of the appropriate length and attach fish clips to both ends of the bulb. Before testing, remove the wire of the generator "armature" column, and then clamp one end of the test lamp to the generator "armature" column, and the other end of the iron, when the engine is running at medium speed, the brightness of the test lamp indicates that the generator is working normally, otherwise the generator will not generate electricity.
5. Take off the battery and tie to see if the engine works.
If there is no microcomputer control electronics on the car, it can be detected by this method. Control the engine above medium speed, remove the battery lap wire (generally disconnect the control master switch on the battery lap wire), if the engine is working normally, it means that the generator generates electricity, otherwise the generator is faulty.
