Four famous novels, who is the first master of Monkey King in Journey to the West

Sun Wukong's first master was Patriarch Su Bodhi. It can also be directly called Bodhi Patriarch.

The first time, the spiritual root nurtures the source of conception, and the spiritual practice is born.

Original text reference: The patriarch said: "There are twelve characters in my door, and they are assigned to be named, until you are a junior disciple of the tenth generation."

The Monkey King said: "Those twelve words? "Patriarch Dao:

It is the twelve characters of 'the vast wisdom is really like the sea of sex, the enlightenment of the circle'. When it comes to you, it is just the word 'enlightenment'. Let's call you 'Monkey King', okay?

The Monkey King smiled, "Good, good, good!" From now on, it will be called Monkey King! ”

"Journey to the West".Sun Wukong's master isBodhi PatriarchPatriarch Bodhi is an overseas immortal. He lived in seclusion deep in the mountains, without showing his head and feet. Although the power is boundless, no one knows it.

It only took three years for this great immortal to make Sun Wukong learn the art of immortality, the skills of seventy-two transformations and somersault clouds. This laid a good foundation for Wukong to make trouble in the heavenly palace in the future, and finally become a Buddha. It can be seen that Patriarch Bodhi is by no means an idle person.

Patriarch Bodhi is a quasi-Taoist and a Buddha.

's junior brother. The two used to be at the helm of the Western Church together. Later, Rulai cultivated a six-zhang golden body and established Buddhism.

Annexation of Western religions. The Bodhi Patriarch also lived in seclusion in the mountains and forests from then on, and named the high mountain "Lingtai Fangcun Mountain", opposite to "Tianzhu Lingshan". After the self-reliance Taoist self-cultivation, except for the mountain residents, no one knew where he lived.

Bodhi PatriarchSun Wukong's first master was Bodhi Patriarch. Bodhi Patriarch accepted Sun Wukong as an apprentice and taught him seventy-two changes and somersault clouds, but Bodhi Patriarch asked Sun Wukong not to mention the status of the teacher after he left the school.

The Bodhi Patriarch is proficient in the three sects and the hundreds of schools, and his magic power is boundless, but he only teaches disciples in the deep cave. The name he gave to Sun Wukong is the Buddhist habit of calling, which corresponds to the later Wu Neng and Wu Jing.

In the original book, it is described as follows: The Monkey King said: "According to you, he is a gentleman who practices filial piety, and it will be beneficial to the future."

But I hope you will point me to the abode of the gods, but I will visit it. The woodcutter said, "Not far, not far."

This mountain is called Lingtai Fangcun Mountain. There is a three-star cave in the mountain. There was an immortal in that cave named Patriarch Subodhi.

There are countless disciples of the patriarch who went out, and I see that there are still thirty or forty people who have practiced from him. You follow that path, and go seven or eight miles south, and you will be his house. ”

The Bodhi Patriarch lived in seclusion in Xiniu Hezhou's "Lingtai Fangcun Mountain, the Three Stars Cave of the Oblique Moon". "Lingtai Fangcun Mountain" takes the first and last two words as "Lingshan", and "oblique moon and three stars" is a thing in the sky, alluding to the "sky". Putting them together is:

Heavenly Spirit Mountain". And we know that the Buddha happened to live in the big Leiyin Temple in the "Tianzhu Ling Mountain" in Xiniu Hezhou. Is it really a coincidence that the names of these two mountains are so similar?

Could there be any connection between Patriarch Bodhi and the Buddha? When Sun Wukong first saw the Bodhi Patriarch, Wu Chengen described it like this: "I saw the Bodhi Patriarch sitting on the stage, and there were thirty little immortals standing on both sides of the stage.

Sure enough: Dajue Golden Immortal has no dirty posture, and the Western Wonderful Ancestor Bodhi; Life is immortal, three or three elements, full of energy, all gods, and ten thousand mercy. (See "Journey to the West" Part 1).

It can be seen that Patriarch Bodhi is also a Venerable Buddha in the West, and Bodhi is a symbol of Western Buddhism.

"Journey to the West" Sun Wukong's first master is Bodhi Patriarch.

Sun Wukong was originally an ordinary monkey who learned from the Bodhi Patriarch. The old ancestors of Bodhi later taught Sun Wukong the technique of seventy-two changes, the method of immortality, eighteen kinds of martial arts, and somersault clouds. Later, Sun Wukong showed off his skills, and calculated that he would cause a catastrophe in the future, so Bodhi Patriarch drove him away and asked him to swear not to tell anyone about his master.

Character experience. When the three teachings are all through Wukong to learn the arts, Bodhi said that he was proficient in a hundred schools of thought and let Wukong pick one to learn, and he asked Sun Wukong to choose the low-level courses to learn, there are three hundred and sixty side doors of the Taoist word door, including the art word door of the immortal Fuluan, the auspicious and evil avoidance, the flow of the word door of the three teachings of the nine streams of reading the scriptures and chanting the Buddha, the holy descending to the truth, the meditation of the static word door, the precept fasting, the moving word door of the yin and yang, climbing the bow and stepping on the crossbow, etc., is very complicated; Bodhi can talk about the Tao for a while, talk about Zen for a while, and the three schools cooperate with each other.

From these, it can be seen that Bodhi is not confined to one school, but is inclusive and universal. Later, in just three years, he taught Wukong the seventy-two changes, somersault clouds, and so on.

It can be said that such a magical power that is compatible with the three religions and nine streams is difficult for other immortals in "Journey to the West" to match, and he and Rulai are the only two in the book who are proficient in the three teachings.
