Edimontor de Amicis was born on October 31, 1846 in Oneglia, Liguria, Italy. He spent his childhood in Cuneo and Turin, and in 1862 he entered the Military Academy of Modena, after which he participated in the war to unify Italy, first as an ordinary soldier and later as an officer.

Edimonto de Amicis (31 October 1846 – 12 March 1908) was a native of Imperia, Italy, and a writer of children's literature. Studying in Turin as a teenager, Amicius began his military career at the age of fifteen when he joined the Military Academy of Modena. Amicius' representative work is a diary ** "The Education of Love", which is rich in emotion and beautifully written.
