On October 31, 2016, Silvio Gazzaniga, the father of the Hercules Cup, passed away at his home in Milan, Italy, at the age of 95.
The Hercules Cup has been used since the 1974 World Cup in Germany, and has been won by six countries: Germany (West Germany), Argentina, Italy, Brazil, Spain and France.
