1. Basutolan
Basutoland, now Lesotho, was annexed by the British in 1868, placed under the jurisdiction of the Cape of Good Hope colony in 1871, and restored direct jurisdiction by the British in 1884. Independence in 1966.
2. Bechuaner
Bechuana is present-day Botswana. The British Expeditionary Force arrived in 1884 and declared it a British protectorate in 1885, and in 1895 part of Bechuana was placed under the jurisdiction of the Cape of Good Hope**, while the rest remained directly under British jurisdiction. 3. Togo
