Li Keran (famous teacher Niu Tang, from Xuzhou, Jiangsu. Formerly known as Li Yongshun, he used the alias Sanqi. At the age of 13, he studied traditional landscape painting from the village Xianqian Shizhi, and at the age of 16, he entered the Shanghai Private Art College to study.
He is good at Chinese painting and art education. He studied painting since childhood, first entered the normal department of Shanghai Art College, and studied oil painting under the famous French painter Crodo, and studied painting under Qi Baishi and Huang Binhong, and taught in many art academies. After liberation, he served as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, vice chairman of the China Artists Association, and president of the Chinese Painting Research Institute.
He is good at landscapes, resketches, and introduces the chiaroscuro methods in Western painting into Chinese painting, harmoniously melting Western painting techniques in the profound traditional brushwork and modeling imagery, and has achieved outstanding achievements.
Li Keran was born in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province on March 26, 1907, and studied traditional landscape painting at the age of 13 from Xiangxian Qian Shizhi, and entered a private art college in Shanghai at the age of 16. In 1929, he entered the Hangzhou (International) West Lake Art Academy with excellent results, and was admitted as a graduate student under the tutelage of Lin Fengmian and other professors, studying Western painting. In 1943, he was hired as a lecturer at the Chongqing National Art School, engaged in teaching, creation and work of Chinese painting.
In 1946, he was hired by Xu Beihong as a professor of Chinese painting at the National Beiping Art School, and at the same time studied under Qi Baishi and Huang Binhong, concentrating on the research and creation of traditional national paintings.
