In 1974, Tanzania established the Chimpanzee Research Centre here.

In the Giozani Nature Reserve on the island of Zanzibar, the bearded monkey, a rare animal of the world, is covered with red fur, weighs less than 10 kilograms and is 30 to 80 centimeters long, which is extinct in other areas, so it is particularly precious and protected.

Kenya's Maraise Mara Wildlife Sanctuary is a 1,800-square-kilometre wilderness in the Mara Savannah of the Great Rift Valley. It is home to more than 1.3 million herbivores, mainly elephants, zebras, antelopes, giraffes, hippos, etc., as well as lions, cheetahs, crocodiles, vultures and other birds of prey.

Nairobi National Park, on the outskirts of Kenya's capital, is also a famous wildlife park, with a wide variety of antelopes and countless ostriches, baboons, rhinoceros, etc.

Uganda is on the upper reaches of the Nile River and is home to African crocodiles. The largest crocodile is 8 meters long, with sharp teeth and an infinitely powerful tail, and is brutal. Rwenzoli Park in Uganda is home to not only wild mammals, but also a wide variety of birds. In the dense jungle environment, the lions here have developed the ability to go up trees to catch prey. The beautiful crown bird, the national bird of Uganda, can be seen almost everywhere in the swamps.

Mikumi Natural Zoo is located in the Morogoro district of Tanzania, southwest of the Rufu River, 300 kilometers from the capital Dar es Salaam West in the area of the Uluguru Mountains. It is 750 meters above sea level and covers an area of about 1,300 square kilometers. It is one of the top 10 national wildlife parks in Tanzania and is known for its many animal breeds, with almost all the mammals in the country preserved.

In 1964 the state officially named it Mikumi National Park.
