Professor Zhou Guangzhao has made outstanding creative achievements in various major fields of theoretical physics, which has made him well-known in the international physics community. Because of his significant contributions to the successful development of China's first atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb, he won the first prize of the National Natural Science Award in 1964; In 1987, he won the first prize of the Major Scientific and Technological Achievement Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Professor Zhou has also been awarded honorary doctorates by four world-renowned universities: the City University of New York, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Hong Kong, and McGill University. In 1993, he was awarded the "Knight Medal of the Italian Republic" by Italy, and in 1994, he was awarded the "China Outstanding Scientist" award by the Hong Kong Qiushi Science and Technology Association, and in 1996, the asteroid with the international number 3462 was named "Zhou Guangzhaoxing" after deliberation and approval by the International Asteroid Nomenclature Committee.
