Software compatibility is an important indicator of the quality of software, compatibility refers to a set of attributes related to the ability of software to transfer from one environment to another, it includes the following attributes:
1. Software attributes related to the fact that the software may adapt to a different prescribed environment without adopting activities or means different from those prepared for the software;
2. Make the software conform to the standards or agreed software attributes related to portability;
3. Software attributes related to the opportunities and efforts of the software to replace other software developed in the software environment.
In the specific test, we can judge from the following aspects:
Operating system compatibility.
The ideal software should be platform-agnostic to which operating system platforms the software can run. Some software needs to be recompiled on different operating system platforms to run, some software needs to be redeveloped or changed greatly to run on different operating system platforms, and for software with two-tier system and multi-layer architecture, the selectivity of front-end and back-end operating systems should also be considered.
Heterogeneous database compatibility.
Nowadays, many software, especially MIS, ERP, CRM and other software, need the support of database systems, and the support capabilities of different database platforms should be considered for such software, such as replacing from Oracle platform to Sybase platform, whether the software can be directly hooked up, or provide related conversion tools.
Conversion of old and new data.
Whether the software provides the ability to convert old and new data. When the software is upgraded, a new data format or file format may be defined, which involves the support and update of the original format, and the original user's records should be inherited and still available in the new format, and the integrity and correctness of the data in the conversion process should be considered.
Heterogeneous data compatibility.
Whether the software provides support for other commonly used data formats. For example, whether the office software supports commonly used doc, wps and other file formats, and to what extent it is supported, that is, whether these formats of files can be read out completely correctly.
Application Software Compatibility.
It mainly examines two contents: one is what other application software is needed to support the operation of the software, and the other is to judge whether the use of other commonly used software such as MS Office and anti-virus software causes other software to run incorrectly or the software itself cannot correctly realize its functions.
Hardware compatibility.
Investigate whether the software has special instructions for the running hardware environment, such as the model of the computer, the model of the network card, the model of the sound card, the model of the graphics card, etc., and whether there is a special statement.
Some of the above aspects are more common content extracted by the China Software Evaluation Center in a large number of software testing practices, and for different types of software, there are more evaluation indicators in terms of compatibility, and the focus is also different according to the actual situation.

In this case, there are three options:
1. Use compatibility mode to install or run the software, the specific method is to right-click on the icon of the installer or running the main program of the software, select Properties, and then open the compatibility tab to set the compatible environment for the program to run, taking feiq as an example, as shown in the following figure:
2. If the software is not necessary software or there are other replaceable software, then choose the 64-bit Windows 7 operating system and give up the use of incompatible software;
3. If the software is required and cannot be replaced, then you can only reinstall the operating system and replace it with an operating system that is compatible with the software.
