I have 2 hard drives on my computer, but one of them won t open

You try to go to the BIOS and adjust the boot order of the hard drive.

1. Enter the control panel, open the "Management" item, select "Disk Management" on the left side, on the right side, only see the hard disk 0, and the second hard disk 1 does not appear.

2. To solve the problem of not displaying the second hard disk, first open the "Control Panel" program in the start menu.

3. After entering the "Control Panel", drag the scroll bar to find and open the "System" item.

4. After opening the "System Properties" window, select "Hardware" and click the "Device Manager" button.

5. After entering the "Device Manager" window, select "IDE ATA ATAPI Controller".

6. In the sub-item of "IDE ATA ATAPI Controller", there is a red cross in front of the "Secondary IDE Channel" item, which means that this item has been closed.

7. Since the "Secondary IDE Channel" is closed, the second hard disk must show that the family is not lost, so select "Enable" in the right-click menu.

8. Starting the "Secondary IDE Channel" is not complete, but also open the property in the right-click menu.

9. In the "Secondary IDE Channel" property window, select "Device 1" under "Advanced Settings", and its "Device Type" is set to "None".

10. You need to set the "Device Type" to "Auto Detection", so that when you turn on the phone, this port will be automatically scanned, and the second hard disk will be displayed in the system, and after being set to "Auto Detection", you need to press the "OK" button to confirm.

11. If your hard disk is installed in the slave disk position of the "Main IDE Channel", then you need to set it, and select "Properties" in the "Main IDE Channel" context menu.

12. Enter the "Main IDE Channel" property window, select "Advanced Settings", then change the "Device Type" under "Device 1" from "None" to "Auto-Detection", and then press the "OK" button, so that the settings are completed and you can see the second hard disk in the computer system.

Hard disks are divided into mechanical hard drives (HDDs) and solid-state drives (SSDs). Mechanical hard disk is a traditional ordinary hard disk, which is mainly composed of: platter, head, platter hinge and control motor, head controller, data converter, interface, cache and other parts.

The head can move along the radius of the platter, and with the high-speed rotation of the platter at several thousand revolutions per minute, the head can be positioned at the designated position of the platter for data reading and writing operations. The information is written to the disk by the electromagnetic current through the magnetic head very close to the magnetic surface, and the electromagnetic current changes the polarity, and the information can be read in the opposite way. As a precision device, dust is the enemy of the hard disk, so the air entering the hard disk must be filtered.

If the system prompts an error in the hard disk, there may be a fault in the identification and operation of the hard disk, and you can troubleshoot and solve the problem by following the following steps:

1) Confirm whether the hard drive is displayed in the disk manager, if so, continue the steps below; If it is not displayed, it proves that the system does not recognize the hard disk, and the possible cause is the damage caused by the SATA data cable, the hard disk power cable, and the hard disk, which needs to be further investigated.

2) If there is a hard disk in the disk manager, first confirm its status, whether it is not partitioned or formatted, if not, try to partition and format the mobile hard disk first;

3) If the hard disk has a partition formatted, but there is no corresponding drive letter assigned, you can right-click on the partition, select the "Change Drive Letter and Path" option, and re-select the partition assigned a drive letter to the hard disk.

It should be that the partition format is lost. If you don't have important data, you can reformat it. If you have important data, try to restore the format with software.

Format it and take a look, maybe that hard drive sector is broken.

You can boot your computer from a floppy disk or bootable disc (note to set the boot order in the BIOS), check the files on the hard drive after booting, and if you can find your hard drive, and you can also view other disk partitions, then congratulations, your computer is just corrupted because of the windwos boot file. If you can't find the hard drive, or only the C drive, then your hard drive partition table is corrupted and you can use the dos command"fdisk/mbr"to try to repair the main boot sector of the hard disk. If you find your hard drive empty and empty, then the file allocation table on your hard drive is corrupted, which could be due to a virus, but you can use data recovery software to recover the original files.

Repartitioning is recommended. It's possible to get back the space that's missing (try it).
