In 2001, in Chengtian Temple in Quanzhou City, I got up too early in the morning, and the morning class was about 2 hours, and the sky was not yet bright. There was only gruel for breakfast, and there was no enough pickles to eat. Only old monks over the age of 70 have sweet potato porridge that is a little thicker.

After breakfast, I went to the personal hygiene responsibility area to clean, and the head of the house was no exception.

After a break of about an hour, the two masters, the guest teacher, and the monk on duty, each with a team, each team of seven or eight monks, a rickshaw, go to the old city demolition site, pick up wood, pull it back to the temple, and burn the fire for cooking.

In July and August, the hottest time of the year, the temple stipulates that you must wear a long shirt when you go out to work, and you can't break the rules when you go out to work. I was in the team, and I took the initiative to pull the car back, and I wanted to be more active. When we went to the demolition site with an empty car, we all strongly asked the Zhike Master to sit on it, and the Zhike Master was nearly 70 years old at that time.

Chopping wood at 2 p.m., by 4 o'clock, dinner at 5 o'clock, as with breakfast, gruel, pickles. Evening classes from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. I hardly have any time off, and my free time is also busy washing my own clothes.

Chengtian Temple, only at noon can eat enough, Chengtian Temple is in the center of Quanzhou, there is no shortage of food money!

It's just that the monks of Chengtian Temple chose this kind of life.

I lived in Chengtian Monastery for seven or eight years, and I slowly got used to it.

The abbot of Chengtian Temple received a lot of offerings, but his old man liked to go to various small temples in the countryside of Quanzhou, and the old monk went to a temple, so he left 200,300 money to send to the small temple. Those who don't understand think that the old monk is rich, and when the old monk dies, he only has a single payment for the month!

It's been a few years since I left Chengtian Temple, and I miss !!

Let me tell you about the fact that after more than a year of being a monk, I feel that by building a monastery, I can accumulate great merit and bring happiness and joy to myself, my family, and even all sentient beings. When I first came to the monastery, I had inconvenient electricity and difficult draft, so I was willing to take a bath for a long time, and there was a lot of construction work, and the monks worked very hard, but they did not complain, but their hearts were full of joy.

Let's talk about myself, I once left home at the age of nine, became a little novice, I stayed in the monastery for three years, and my memories are still fresh in my memory, I would get up at half past four every day to do morning classes, I would go to listen to the morning bell, sometimes after playing I would sneak down the mountain, go outside, go to the nearby town to eat something delicious, I would be idle every day, except for the morning and evening classes I would be in the main hall, the rest of the time everyone could not find me, everyone was very kind, and never said anything about me, Except for the occasional dozing off during the recitation. Ah, I miss it so much, even though I'm gone now, I still often think about that time.

Ten years of being a monk, I deeply feel that it is cause and effect! The washing of the soul and the impetuosity of the world can calm down as soon as you arrive at the temple, which is a very good experience.

It's different from what I imagined when I didn't go, and you may think that the life of a monk is very dusty, but in fact, Buddhism is also advancing with the times. Everyone has a mobile phone and computer, and there is Wi-Fi. Of course, these high-tech things are used for work, and the division of labor in the temple is very clear, and the upper and lower levels are also very strict.

When I was working in the temple, I found that my heart was joyful, and I had endless energy, and I saw all the bodhisattvas and Buddhas smiling at myself, which was an incomparable joy.

I think. There are many idlers in the temple, there are many lazy people, and the Buddha gives some people idleness. The platform of the Chinese element is established as a Buddha and Bodhisattva, and the Buddha is an enlightened person, not to use money to enclose land.

Ordinary people need to abide by the precepts and rules when working in the monastery, and when a monk is about to earn a few hundred yuan to 1,000 yuan a month, because the monastery does not make money, and the monks in the monastery are mainly cultivators, so the salary will not be particularly high, as long as it can meet the daily expenses. Because the living level of each monastery is different, the living allowance of the monks will also have a certain difference, and the monthly income of ordinary monks in most monasteries will be about 397 yuan, and the teaching staff may be about 500 yuan. Some temples need to charge entrance fees, so the monk's living allowance may also be higher, and the monk's life is to practice, in order to liberate himself, so there will be no salary, and there will be no shortage of food and clothing in the temple.

Monks in the temple to cultivate, does not mean that they are isolated from the world, some temples in order to adapt to the society, will choose to open a multi-** era in the temple, not only will have a bank account, but also use ** to recruit. Because in the temple, there are also personnel who are responsible for the work, and like ordinary units, there will be independent office computers and printers and other facilities. <>

The main purpose of these personnel working in the temple is to be responsible for publicizing records and taking pictures, and these staff members are not required to take refuge in Buddhism.

In general, there is no performance requirement to work in a temple. But the most unbearable thing about working in a temple is that all the temples are vegetarian, and you can lose weight by working for a long time. Because monks also need to buy some daily necessities during their practice.

So most of the choral can be funded. <>

Working in the monastery is relatively easy, will not bring pressure to the staff, if you are a monk in the temple, it also needs some requirements, ordinary monasteries will issue a single silver to the monks, an average of about 300 yuan per month, these single silver can only buy daily necessities or travel expenses.

It's a very novel feeling, because ordinary people don't understand the work of the temple, so they feel very novel. You can earn 3,000-8,000 yuan per month, and you should be judged according to your own education, position, etc.

Ordinary people volunteering in monasteries, depending on the workload and nature of the work, there is a living allowance of several hundred yuan, and the chef will be higher. As a monk, some monasteries have a living allowance of several hundred yuan, and I have been to a monastery with a subsidy of 600 yuan per month.

The salary of the "monks" of the temple is not low, and this kind of "monk" is generally self-supporting, and what is sold is linked to performance.

The income of "monks" in different temples is different, and there is even a difference of 108,000 miles.

According to Buddhist teachings, monks are monks, and it is their duty to become monks, and they should not receive a salary from their permanent residence. In addition, a monk is a person who practices to achieve liberation through practice, rather than working for wages.

As a result, temple monks do not have salaries.

The monks of those "temples" who mainly earn income from tourism are "organized", they are fake monks and real workers, and they receive salaries. In the monasteries where they really practice, the monks do not receive a salary, they do not need a salary, they eat all the food, and there is no requirement for anything else.

    Amitabha

The monks practiced in the monasteries, preached the Dharma to sentient beings, and did Buddhist deeds.

Old Master--- repay the Buddha's kindness, what did the Buddha do? Now the lecture on confession, the practice meeting, is called the Buddha's thing, but in fact the scriptures are not this interpretation. Buddhism is Shakyamuni Buddha's lifelong lectures and teachings, which is his career.

Repaying the Buddha's kindness, what did the Buddha do? Now the lecture on confession, the practice meeting, is called the Buddha's thing, but in fact the scriptures are not this interpretation. Buddhism is Shakyamuni Buddha's lifelong lectures and teachings, which is his career.

He became enlightened at the age of thirty, and after he became enlightened, he taught at Sarnath Garden, and passed away at the age of seventy-nine. It is recorded in the scriptures that more than 300 lectures will be held, and the Dharma will be said for 49 years, this is a Buddha thing, and Shakyamuni Buddha's life is only teaching, and practice is a personal matter, and the Buddha does not care.

Therefore, in the scriptures, I don't see when the Buddha played a Zen seven, a Buddha seven, and led the people to practice, but there is no record. The Buddha only helps us to see through, and to see through is to enlighten and understand the truth of life in the universe.

What is the practice? It's about letting go. The Buddha helps us to see through it, and letting go is our own business. If you really see through it, you will let it go, and if you let it go, you will be at ease, and you will be able to enjoy the highest enjoyment in life.

It is necessary to be clean, famous, profitable, seven emotions and five desires, not contaminated at all, and liberated. People in the world are entangled by these things, troubles, suffering, detachment, let go, they have to be free, free from suffering and happy.

The goal of Buddhism is to be free from suffering and to be happy, and the teaching philosophy is to help sentient beings break through their confusion and become enlightened. Where does the suffering of sentient beings come from? Confused, not knowing the truth, thinking wrong about life in the universe, called confusion, seeing wrong is called confusion, confusion is confusion.

The Buddha helps us to break through the confusion and become enlightened, and when we break the mini, we will be free from suffering, and when we are enlightened, we will be happy, and the goal will be achieved. What is the means to break through the confusion and become enlightened? It's teaching, and there's no second word.

We see in the scriptures that the World-Honored One taught all his life, introduced this sutra, Amitabha Buddha's lifelong teachings, and the teachings of Elysium were uninterrupted.

Not only do you preach the scriptures and the Dharma, but the six dusts of Elysium all say the Dharma, how can the six dusts speak the Dharma? It is Amitabha Buddha realized, and the so-called six dust sayings are Amitabha Buddha's sayings. We now fully accept this matter, without the slightest suspicion.

The difference in rank between monks is very large. You can't expect an abbot to do the same work as an inferior monk. In the temple, some monks have a high status, for example, the highest person in charge of the temple is the abbot, that is, the abbot.

The prison is responsible for supervising the daily life of the monks of the temple. Vena is in charge of Buddhist activities in the temple. But there are also inferior monks, such as the head of the manure, who is responsible for carrying the dung buckets.

The head of the gate is responsible for guarding the temple gate. Incense lamps are responsible for cleaning the temple. The head of the meal is responsible for the meal.

The head of water is responsible for the ** of water in the temple. Wait a minute. The structure of the temple is quite complex, and it is not something that can be explained in one or two sentences, in short, the monks have different statuses and do different things.

Regular monks participate in meditation, meditate and chant Buddha scriptures, cultivate the mind, cultivate morality, and cultivate virtue.

Monks in monasteries are usually people who practice religion, and their salaries are not calculated according to wages in the traditional sense. Monks generally live and practice in monasteries, and their basic living expenses, food and lodging and other basic living guarantees are provided by the monastery. In addition, monks usually accept donations and incense money from devotees, which can be used for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the monastery.

In some large Buddhist temples, monks may take on some management and educational duties, such as presiding over rituals, giving lectures, instructing believers in practice, and so on. These jobs may be paid in a certain amount, but not according to wages in the traditional sense, but according to the rules of the monastery and the donations of the devotees.

In general, the life and work of a monk is not based on salary as the main consideration, but is centered on faith and practice. They live and work in pursuit of spiritual fulfillment and growth, not in pursuit of material rewards.
