The unit of magnetic density (1tesla = 10,000 gause) was named after him, indicating his contribution to magnetism.

Although he devoted his life to continuous research and obtained about 1,000 (some say 700) patents for inventions, this did not make him a lot of money, and Tesla was financially strapped for many years. On January 7, 1943, Tesla died of heart failure at a New York hotel at the age of 86. In 2003, in honor of the idol Tesla, Elon Musk named Tesla cars after him.
