The following year, he was admitted to Qingdao University, first in the Department of English, and then in the Department of Chinese. During his studies, he was encouraged by Wen Yiduo and Wang Tongzhao to write a large number of new poems. After graduating from university in 1934, he went to Shandong Linqing Middle School to teach, teaching and writing poetry. In 1936, he published the long poem "A Portrait of Myself" and a collection of short poems "The Canal". Most of these works depict the suffering and misfortune of the peasants, diligence and perseverance in tempered verses, which are true, concise and subtle, bringing new breath to the poetry scene at that time.
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he went to the front to engage in progressive cultural work for nearly 5 years, and published poetry collections such as "From the Army", "Muddy Collection" and "Huaishang Yin". The work enthusiastically celebrates the new life, and pursues a clear, smooth, and unrefined style in art, but the charm is weaker than before. After 1978, he published poetry collections such as "Memories of the Sun", "The Past and the Present", "Zang Kejia's Poetry Collection", "Falling on the Red", "Singing in the New Years", etc.
