In addition, organizations (language schools, universities, Alliance Française, Francophone academies, business associations, professional colleges, etc.) and companies that have the equipment and conditions to apply to become TEF examination centres can contact the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which will examine the applicant's qualifications. Those who pass the test sign a contract with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to set up an examination center. The center can decide the time of the examination at its own discretion and there is no limit to the number of candidates.

The test consists of three compulsory items: Oral Comprehension, Written Comprehension, Structure and Vocabulary. Each item is worth 300 points, and the total score for each item is 900 points.

The TEF consists of 3 compulsory and 2 non-mandatory tests: reading comprehension (1 hour), listening and speaking (40 minutes) and vocabulary and structure (30 minutes);

The non-mandatory test items include: Written Chart (1 hour) and Oral Presentation (35 minutes). All students who wish to study in France are required to take the test of the compulsory program.
