According to this method, the direction is determined, taking into account the local time difference. Beijing time should be converted to local time. Based on the 120th parallel of east longitude, Beijing time is added by one hour for every 15 degrees of longitude to the east, and Beijing time is subtracted by one hour for every 15 degrees to the west.

For example, if the geographical coordinates of Urumqi are 87 degrees 40 minutes east longitude, then (120° 87°) 15° 2 hours and 9 minutes, and Beijing time minus 2 hours and 9 minutes, is the local time of Urumqi.

The above two methods cannot be used in the area south of the Tropic of Cancer (23 degrees 27 minutes north latitude) in Chiayi, Taiwan, Nanao Island, northeast of Shantou, Guangdong, Wuzhou City, Guangxi, and Gejiu City in Yunnan.

By the way, we know that the Earth and the Sun move 15° relative to each other during the rotation of the Earth, and we can roughly determine the direction with a watch and the Sun. Conversely, we can also determine the approximate time with a compass and the sun. To do this, use a compass to orient the sun north, and divide the reading of the sun's bearing by 15.

In China, Beijing time is the standard, Beijing is on the east longitude 120 ° line, and other regions should be corrected according to the longitude difference, that is, the correct solar time.

Watches with hands: Hold the watch flat with the dial up, turn the watch so that the hour hand on the watch box points to the sun. At this time, the hour hand of the watch forms an angle with the 12 o'clock on the dial, and the extension of the bisector of this angle is south.

Method 2: (This method is a little more complicated, but more accurate than method 1) Divide the time you are in by 2, then find the corresponding position of the quotient on the dial, and then point this number at the sun, on the dial"12"The direction that the dot points to is north. For example, at 10 a.m., divide by 2 and the quotient is 5.
