The living habits of the Yao peasants must go back to the customs and folklore of the Yao people

I dare say that young people of the Yao nationality often use the Internet, middle-aged people often watch TV, and the elderly often visit their homes.

This is similar to the living habits of other farmers, except that the Yao people have their own customs, such as sacrificial dances and dressing.

Bibei, formerly known as "turtle back", is a town inhabited by the Yao people in Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County, located in the hinterland of Dayao Mountain, 54 kilometers northeast of Ruyuan County. The Bibei Yao people belong to the mountain Yao, which is a branch of the Yao people, and moved in from Hunan and other places during the Sui and Tang dynasties. After the Ming Dynasty, due to famine and war, a large number of Yao compatriots migrated to Guangxi, Yunnan and other places, and then dispersed to Southeast Asia, and then migrated to Europe and the United States.

In 1984, a delegation of overseas Chinese and Chinese Americans of the Yao nationality in the United States made a special trip back to visit their ancestors and went to Guikeng to worship the ancestral tomb of "Pan'an Mountain Gong". For this reason, in June 1986, before the collapse of the first International Yao Symposium in Hong Kong, the closing ceremony was held in Bibei. According to reports, there are about 80,000 Yao compatriots living abroad.

In Bibei Town, there is a reception building with strong Yao characteristics, where tourists can taste the flavor of the Yao people, drink the bitter mulberry wine made by the Yao people, and also enjoy the Yao bamboo bar dance, top bar, harvest dance and Yao wedding and other ethnic programs performed by the young men of the Yao family and the Yao girls for you. On the front wall of the reception room of the Yao Nationality Reception Building, there is a huge painting of Yao folk customs, which is basically reflected in this painting.

In the verdant pine and fir forest, in the halfway of the terraced fields, there are scattered Yao villages built by the mountains, the scale of the Yao people is relatively small, few single households or three or more households in one village, more than ten households and eight households, dozens of households in a village is rare. Most of the houses of the Yao people are built of cedar bark and fir wood, and some are built with adobe bricks and green tiles. Some villages are multi-room horizontal rows, and some have a double-storey house structure of "upper living and lower grazing", with people living on the upper floor and cattle pens or pig pens on the lower floor.

It must be backed by a quartz sandstone landform. Along the river must be backed, the stone peaks on both sides of the bank are like knives and axes, the majestic and precipitous, the landscape and Zhangjiajie have the same magic. Among them, the peaks of Huanglongzhai Scenic Area are dripping green, the layers are distinct, the two mountains in the scenic area are sandwiched, the Bibei River flows from the large and small stones at the bottom of the valley, sometimes splashes the waves, the anchovy here is a tribute in the Tang Dynasty.

The peaks on both sides of the Bibei River are lined up, high into the clouds, and the top of the mountain is covered with clouds and mist all the year round. Among them, the most peculiar scenic spots are "Yellow Dragon Cliff", "Seven Steps Cloud Rock", "Tiger's Mouth Dangerous Peak", "Fairy Asks Golden Turtle", "Wine Pot Stone" and so on.
