It is the Tianyi Pavilion in Ningbo, Zhejiang. Tianyi Pavilion is a private library built by Fan Qin, a soldier of the Ming Dynasty, in the Jiajing period, and it is also the oldest surviving library in Asia. Because it has gone through an extremely difficult process of collecting books, it is considered to be a model and cultural miracle of ancient Chinese library buildings, and thus has become a symbol of Chinese book collecting culture.
In order to comprehensively display the efforts of the thirteen generations of the demonstration clan and local people of insight and cultural celebrities in the history of the development of Tianyi Pavilion, and guide people to better enjoy the historical time and space journey of Tianyi Pavilion book collection culture, Tianyi Pavilion Museum has completely transformed the original display. The new display takes the development history of Tianyi Pavilion as a clue, the collection culture as the core, and the collection of ancient books as the main carrier, which is divided into three stages: Fan's private collection period, social participation period and national public collection period, and shows the book collection culture of Tianyi Pavilion in different periods such as Fan's earliest library Dongming Thatched Cottage, Fan's former residence, Fuxue Library Building, Zunjing Pavilion, Qianjin Zhai, etc. It systematically and comprehensively tells the story of Tianyi Pavilion for more than 430 years, and strives to create an atmosphere full of books.
Tianyi Pavilion originally had a collection of 70,000 volumes, and was lost to 130,000 volumes due to war and other reasons at the time of liberation, and then after the careful visit of Tianyi Pavilion cultural relics workers and the generous donation of Ningbo bibliophiles, 4,000 volumes of Fan's original collection were recovered, plus the ancient books collected from the society, the new Tianyi Pavilion now has a collection of 300,000 volumes. After 430 years of ups and downs, the oldest folk library in China's history, and one of the earliest existing folk library buildings in the world, Tian-Ge, was officially opened to the public recently after renovation. The overall layout of the Tiange Museum is composed of three functional areas: a book collection culture area, a garden leisure area, and an exhibition area.
The renovation, Tianyi Pavilion Museum has made a thorough transformation of the original display, the new display to Tianyi Pavilion development history as a clue, to the collection of book culture as the core, to the collection of ancient books as the main carrier, divided into Fan's private collection period, social participation period and national public collection period three stages.
