In the past, an elder of a wealthy family suddenly had a strange idea: 'There are many young monks in the monastery, I wonder if they still have a heart for the love between men and women?' To get the answer, you have to use ingenuity to test the test.
It is better to invite them to dine at home, and let the maids of the house serve them attentively, and I will observe from the sidelines, and if there is still love, I will know from the process of offering. So the elder went to the temple and invited all the young monks to come to their homes to receive offerings.
On the day of the offering, the elder ordered all the maids and dependents of the family to dress up in fancy and graceful manners to welcome the monks. An arhat who had attained the six spiritual powers had insight into this matter, and on the way to the bhikshus to make offerings, the bones of many dead people appeared and scattered around the road of Tongxinmu, reminding the bhikshus to be mindful and eat when making offerings, and not to covet women and delusions, so that they could save themselves.
As a result of the arhat's reminder, the bhikshu should be consumed in a dignified and mindful manner during the offering process, without being confused by the female sex in the slightest. Seeing such a scene, the elder was both amazed and ashamed, and confessed to the bhikshus the evil thoughts and deeds he had committed. Because of the manifestation of the monks' mindfulness, the elders believed in the Dharma from then on, and the women who stood by were so ashamed that they hid in their houses and did not dare to see anyone.
The arhat further reminded the elders, 'The Dharma is like a vast ocean, boundless. It is disrespectful for you to measure the virtues of the saints today with the wisdom of ordinary people, just as measuring the sea with a small container weighing the bucket of water!
The monks also gave teachings to the elders:
Strong in the form of a colorful painting, solemn and ugly body, the fool thinks it is fate, and does not seek a degree.
The distribution is eight points, and the eyes and ears are pierced, and the fools with frank hands are dyed, and they do not seek to measure themselves. ’
When the bhikshu had finished speaking, he got up and left. After hearing this, the elders and the women all initiated a great bodhichitta and revered the Three Jewels, so that they could achieve great attainments in the future.

Reflections. What does it mean to believe in the Dharma? What is the Three Jewels of Respect?
If you don't have true conviction and respect, you will have all kinds of doubts, and if you have doubts, you will not be able to appreciate the spirit of the Dharma and get the benefits of the Dharma. The elders in the case not only think they are wise, but they are also suspicious of the Three Jewels, which are the work of 'ego' delusion, like a cup that has been filled with tea and can no longer hold anything. If we practice and study Buddhism with such an attitude, our thoughts and thoughts are all delusions, and we are blinded by our 'self-grasping', and we don't have much room to open our hearts, how can we improve our practice?

"Huayan Sutra" "faith is the mother of merit of the source of the Tao", faith is the ** of all good laws, which can give birth to all merits, so it is said that faith is the mother of merit.
Huayan Sutra", the full name of "Dafang Guang Buddha Huayan Sutra", one of the important classics of Mahayana Buddhism, is Shakyamuni Buddha enlightenment, under the Bodhi tree for the five bhikshu monks and Manjushri, Puxian and other great Bodhisattvas preached, the sutra records the Buddha's wish to do the virtue, and show the endless fruit, everything without a barrier to the wonderful purpose.
There are three Chinese translations of this scripture:
1. The translation of the Buddha of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, entitled "Dafang Guang Buddha Huayan Sutra", sixty volumes, is different from the later Tang translation, also called"The old translation of "Huayan".", or "Sixty Huayan".
Second, the translation of the Tang Wu Zhou Shisha Nanda, entitled "Dafang Guang Buddha Huayan Sutra", eighty volumes, also known as"A new translation of Huayan", or "Eighty Huayan".
3. The translation of the Panjna in Tang Zhenyuan is also titled "Dafang Guang Buddha Huayan Sutra", forty volumes, and its full name is "Dafang Guang Buddha Huayan Sutra into the Realm of Incredible Liberation Puxian Xing Xing Wish", referred to as "Fuxian Xing Wish", or "Forty Huayan".

Meaning: If you believe in what the sages say, then the person himself has great merit. Those who do not have merit and good fortune do not believe at all.
Another meaning: Believing in the enlightened path of the sages is the beginning of making merit and the beginning of practice. Therefore, faith is the source, the foundation, and the metaphor of motherhood.

Buddhism is believed in the sea as the ability to enter, and wisdom is the ability. What you are saying is that the beginning of all the benefits in the Dharma begins with faith. Because believing will lead to doing, and doing will lead to gain, so faith is the foundation of the beginning.

Only by believing deeply can all merits be achieved, faith is the first step and the most important step in the entry, and if there is no faith, everything that follows is not to be discussed.

"Dafang Guang Buddha Huayan Sutra".
But for the sake of eternal extinction of the suffering of all sentient beings and the benefit of the world;
Always want to benefit all sentient beings, solemn land to support the Buddha;
Receiving the Dharma and cultivating wisdom, attaining Bodhi and starting the heart;
Deeply believe in understanding and always pure, respectfully respect all Buddhas;
The same is true for the Dharma and the Sangha, who sincerely make offerings and start their hearts;
Deeply believe in the Buddha and the Dharma, and also believe in the way of the Buddha;
and believe in the supreme great bodhi, the bodhisattva is the first heart;
Faith is the mother of merit and virtue, and all the good dharmas are nurtured.
The Dafang Guangfo Huayan Sutra is the name of both 'Dharma metaphor cause and effect', and the name of both 'rational human law', and the gist of the first sutra are all in this. Big, that is, the meaning of inclusion; Fang, that is, the meaning of the model; Wide, that is, the righteousness of the periphery. That is to say, it is always said that the body of the one-minded Dharma realm is vast and boundless, and it is called.
For the generous wide. Buddha, that is, those who have attained the vast and endless Dharma realm; Hua, that is, the cause and action metaphor of the fruit body of the achievement of the circle of all virtues; Therefore, the ten thousand lines of the cause of the position, and the deep meaning of the Buddha's fruit are strictly decorated, which is called Buddha Huayan. In short, the generous Buddha Huayan is the interpretation of the righteousness, and the 'scriptures' are the words and teachings that can be interpreted.
