What is the meaning of the metaphor of Buddhism?

The metaphor of "throwing people" and "block by block" is to find the right place to solve the problem. Physically, there are three elements to the reason why force can do work: the magnitude of the force, the direction of the force, and the point of action of the force.

Today, we will not talk about the size, not the direction, but only the point of action. The "point of action" is the "starting point.""。If the "action point" is wrong, the "work" cannot be achieved; If you get the "right place" wrong, you can't solve the problem"。

Punch "is" the point of action", "block by block" is also the "point of action". The choice of the two action points of "striking" and "block by block" determines whether the problem can be successfully solved. That is to say, the fight determines success, and block by block determines failure.

For the same thing, the outcome is very different due to the different points of action taken.

For example, there are people who throw stupid dogs""If there is a man, throw a lion with a block", these are two things, one is a person who smashes a dog with a stone, and the other is a person who smashes a lion with a stone. Dogs and lions face the same problem of being stoned. What they ultimately want to achieve is "not to be stoned."", the goal is the same, but the starting point is completely different "dog and block by piece, lion pounces on man".

Dogs only chase stones, not people; The lion chases only man, not the stone. The result? A dog that only chases stones and does not chase people, and the stones will continue to fall.

The lion who chases only men and not stones will no longer be stoned.

To put it bluntly, this is a matter of cause and effect, the so-called "the wise are the cause, and the foolish are the fools."

For the fruit", (the lion is a metaphor for the wise, the dog is a fool) "for", the "starting point" is also, and the "action point" is also. Homo sapiens start with causes, and fools start with effects. Any "effect" is caused by a "cause".

There is a cause, and there must be an effect. Without a cause, there will be no effect.

A person threw a stone here", here "a person" is "cause", and "stone is thrown" is "effect". Faced with such an outcome, both the dog and the lion were unwilling to accept it, so they resisted. Dogs rebel against stones, lions rebel against people.

Rebelling against the stone, on the surface it seems more direct and quicker, but it does not serve its purpose. Anti-pit people, on the surface, seem to be indirect and slow, but they can achieve the goal.

The reason why the stone is smashed is that it is smashed by people. If the dog does not solve the problem of people, the problem of throwing stones can never be solved. The lion solves the man, and the stone problem is not a problem.

The Great Prajna Sutra - Dharma Nature Sixth: "The King of Heaven should know: the evil view of the outer way is to seek liberation, but if you want to break death, you don't know how to break life.

If the Dharma is not born, there is no extinction. For example, if someone throws a lion in a block, the lion chases the person and the block rests on its own. The Bodhisattva is also a Bodhisattva, but he dies and dies by himself.

Dogs only don't know each other block by piece, and the block will never stop. Waidao Yier, I don't know how to break life and never leave death. ”

When a dog sees a stone and pounces on a person, it can bite a person; What do you get from seeing a stone but chasing it?

We should first grasp the root of all things, and should not work the details.

It refers to not being able to grasp the fundamentals, but working the details.

In the Buddhist scriptures, there is a dog who was beaten by a stone and did not chase people, but went after the stone

Once upon a time, one of the descendants of Emperor Yan was named Kuafu, Kuafu was a person who dared to think and dare to do, and one day, he suddenly had an idea to chase the sun and race against the sun.

He immediately went into action, running as fast as he could, with his long legs open. In the northern wilderness, towards the west, he ran as hard as he could. Running and running, he was about to catch up, the sun's rays shone on him, the heat of the sun steamed him, he felt very thirsty, and he kept drinking the water from the Yellow River and the Wei River.

He was so hot and thirsty that he quickly drained all the water from the Yellow and Wei rivers, but he still didn't quench his thirst.

Kuafu was thirsty, but he still had to keep chasing the sun. So, he prepared to run north to drink the water in Dazeli. Daze in the north is far away, and Kuafu died of thirst on the way before he could reach his destination.

Kwafu fell, but the cane in his hand turned into a leafy peach grove full of peaches to quench the thirst of those who passed by.

【Interpretation】Advise all people, regardless of cultivating morality, delving into knowledge, or starting a career, not to give up because of temporary setbacks and local difficulties.

There used to be a man who fed two hundred and fifty head of cattle. He often drove the cattle to find pastures with abundant water and grass, and fed the herd of cattle attentively. One day, the tiger ate a cow.

At that time, the owner of the herd had an idea: "I have lost a cow, and this herd will never be the full number, so what will be left for the rest of the cows?" So he immediately drove the oxen to the edge of a deep pit, and pushed them all into the pit, and fell to their deaths.

The same is true of the stupid people of the world. They accept all the precepts of the Buddha Shakyamuni, and if they violate one precept, not only do they not feel ashamed, they reflect on their repentance, and wash away their mistakes, but they have the thought: "I have already violated one precept, and since I can't be perfect, why should I obey the others?"

As a result, all the precepts were broken and not one was observed.

Unreasonableness means that the person cannot be understood by common sense, that there is no way to reason with the person, and that describes a person's arrogance or stubbornness.

Interpretation] The winding path, leading to a deep and secluded place, can be used as a description of the scenery, and can also be a metaphor for the victory that can only be achieved through arduous trekking.

The Tang Dynasty poet Chang Jian has a poem with these two lines in it: "The winding path leads to the secluded place of the state, and the flowers and trees in the meditation room are deep." "That's what I'm saying:

The winding path leads to a secluded place, where the monks' houses are located in the depths of the flowers. The poem is written directly about the scenery, but it is also a pun, saying the truth of the Buddhist family, that is: to achieve the realm of "pure non-action" and "rest the heart to desire", you must first go through a tortuous path of cultivation.

The original intention of the poem is to write about the Buddha realm in the meditation room, but it inadvertently expresses a philosophy of zigzag progress, which is an unconscious reflection of objective dialectics in the poet's mind. The meditation room is located in the deep mountains among the flowers and trees, but the road leading to the meditation room monastery is bumpy, twists and turns, there is no straight and flat road to walk, you must sometimes ascend, sometimes low, sometimes turn left, sometimes turn right, after the arduous trek of the rugged path, in order to reach the destination. Although the "secluded place" is beautiful, it cannot be achieved without the arduous trek of the rugged path.
